Tough Woven Fabric
Standard Abrasives Surface Conditioning Discs provide a more compact structure of non-woven fibers than Buff & Blend products. Our FE disc has a woven fabric (scrim) embedded in the nylon structure to provide additional strength and durability. This helps extend the life of the disc and allows for extended use on ferrous materials or steel. This is the best material to use when high contact pressure and stock removal are required.Mixed Materials
Our Standard Abrasives Surface Conditioning FE Discs are made of a tough, but flexible nylon mesh that fits any contoured surface. This mesh is also laced with aluminum oxide abrasive. Aluminum oxide discs are a good match for operators who desire an all-purpose versatility and economy. The mineral cuts fast while blending and deburring and should be used for applications on ferrous metals and composites. Aluminum oxide discs feature a premium grain with higher fracture strength, meaning the mineral will fragment and renew more readily. They are available in grades ranging from Very Fine to Extra Coarse.Strong Backing for Better Performance
For the best results, it is recommended that a Standard Abrasives brand holder pad is used. Tests have shown that surface conditioning discs, when used in conjunction with the Standard Abrasives holder pad, have a greater durability and performance rate. These pads also assure that pressure is applied evenly all the way to the edge of the disc.Standard Abrasives Brand Model
The Standard Abrasives Surface Conditioning FE Disc 845514 offers reliable performance for metal finishing tasks. This 4-1/2 in VFN disc is designed to deliver consistent results on various surfaces.
Its model number 845514 ensures you get the exact product specified for blending, coating removal, and light deburring. The brand’s reputation supports durability and quality in abrasive tools.
High Edge Durability Benefits
These discs feature high edge durability and flexibility, making them ideal for detailed edge work and blending. The tough woven fabric backing embedded in the nylon structure extends the disc’s life significantly.
Such durability is especially useful when working on ferrous materials, where high contact pressure and stock removal are required. This ensures longer use and better performance on steel surfaces.
Aluminum Oxide Abrasive Quality
The disc uses aluminum oxide abrasive on FE material, providing a high initial and extended cut rate. This mineral is known for fast cutting while blending and deburring metal surfaces efficiently.
Aluminum oxide’s premium grain offers higher fracture strength, allowing the abrasive to renew itself during use. This makes it a versatile choice for operators needing economy and all-purpose performance.
Size Format Pack
The product comes in a 4-1/2 inch diameter size with a Very Fine to Extra Coarse grade range, suitable for various finishing needs. The VFN format ensures compatibility with hook and loop attachment systems.
Each pack contains 10 discs, and the full case includes 100 discs, making it convenient for bulk purchasing and continuous use in professional settings.
Holder Pad Performance Support
For optimal results, using a Standard Abrasives brand holder pad is recommended. This combination improves disc durability and ensures even pressure application across the entire disc surface.
Tests confirm that pairing the FE Disc 845514 with the matching holder pad enhances performance and extends the life of the disc during demanding surface conditioning tasks.
