Smooth, Balanced Application
When balanced handling is essential and an abrasive belt won't fit the part, a good solution is to use a Standard Abrasives™ Rubber Sanding Drum fitted with a Standard Abrasives™ Spiral Band (sold separately). The spiral band can be a coated abrasive for polishing and blending, or a non-woven surface conditioning product for effective finishing. In either case, the Standard Abrasives™ Rubber Sanding Drum offers an even application on contours and hard-to-reach areas with a rotary tool.Tips for Optimal Use
It is important for both the drum and the abrasive to have the same nominal diameter to prevent skipping and bumping. Rather than deflecting or skidding over the substrate, the spiral band stays in constant contact with the workpiece to swiftly rid the surface of little burrs. The maximum allowable RPM for spiral bands is the same as the maximum RPM of the drum, provided the drum and band have the same nominal diameter. Typically, the rubber drum attaches to portable drills, die grinders, straight shaft and angle grinders. The great news is, the drum requires no extra tools for band changes.Quality Standard Abrasives™ Solutions for Industrial Applications
The Standard Abrasives brand has supplied quality abrasives to the metalworking industry for over 50 years. Customers rely on our broad offering of high performance products including coated, bonded, and non-woven abrasive lines.Standard Abrasives Model
The Standard Abrasives Rubber Sanding Drum 704431 is designed for precise contour work. This model ensures smooth running and controlled expansion, making it ideal for polishing and finishing tasks.
Its rubber construction allows the drum to expand at high speeds, providing a secure fit with abrasive bands. This model comes in a pack of 10, offering great value for multiple projects.
Exact Dimensions Matter
This sanding drum measures 1-1/2 in x 1 in x 1/4 in, providing the perfect size for detailed work. The dimensions ensure it fits well with matching abrasive bands for balanced operation.
Using the correct size helps prevent skipping or jumping during use, allowing smooth application on contoured surfaces and hard-to-reach areas.
Secure Non-Slip Surface
The drum features a non-slip surface that firmly holds spiral abrasive bands in place. This secure grip is essential for consistent polishing and finishing without band slippage.
It pairs well with coated abrasive bands or non-woven surface conditioning bands, offering versatility across different finishing needs.
Controlled Expansion Benefits
The rubber material enables controlled expansion of the sanding drum, which balances the spiral band at high speeds. This control reduces vibration and improves finish quality.
Matching the drum diameter with the abrasive band size is crucial for optimal results, ensuring the tool runs smoothly and efficiently.
Pack Count Convenience
This product comes as a 10 ea/Case, providing enough sanding drums for multiple uses or projects. Having a case of drums ensures you’re always ready for finishing tasks.
The pack size supports industrial and professional applications, making it easy to maintain a steady supply of quality sanding drums.
