  • Product Description
    • Enables polishing, finishing and blending on contours when smooth running is essential
    • Non-slip drum surface securely holds spiral band
    • Pairs with coated abrasive bands or non-woven surface conditioning bands
    • Range of sizes helps ensure an ideal match between drum size and part for optimal results
    • Rubber drum enables controlled expansion of a spiral band for proper balance and smooth running at high speeds (band sold separately)
    • Use same diameter drum and band
The Standard Abrasives Rubber Sanding Drum holds an abrasive band for contour work (band sold separately). Constructed from rubber, the drum expands at high speed for the closest possible fit with a band of the same size for controlled operation. This enables it to run smoothly over contoured surfaces and into hard-to-reach areas without skipping or jumping for a smooth, precise finish.

    Smooth, Balanced Application
When balanced handling is essential and an abrasive belt won't fit the part, a good solution is to use a Standard Abrasives™ Rubber Sanding Drum fitted with a Standard Abrasives™ Spiral Band (sold separately). The spiral band can be a coated abrasive for polishing and blending, or a non-woven surface conditioning product for effective finishing. In either case, the Standard Abrasives™ Rubber Sanding Drum offers an even application on contours and hard-to-reach areas with a rotary tool.

    Tips for Optimal Use
It is important for both the drum and the abrasive to have the same nominal diameter to prevent skipping and bumping. Rather than deflecting or skidding over the substrate, the spiral band stays in constant contact with the workpiece to swiftly rid the surface of little burrs. The maximum allowable RPM for spiral bands is the same as the maximum RPM of the drum, provided the drum and band have the same nominal diameter. Typically, the rubber drum attaches to portable drills, die grinders, straight shaft and angle grinders. The great news is, the drum requires no extra tools for band changes.

    Standard Abrasives Brand

The Standard Abrasives Rubber Sanding Drum 700085 is a trusted choice for metalworking and finishing tasks. This product is part of the Standard Abrasives line, known for quality and reliability in industrial applications.

With over 50 years of experience, Standard Abrasives offers high-performance coated, bonded, and non-woven abrasive products. The 700085 model fits into this legacy, ensuring consistent results for professionals.

    Precise Drum Dimensions

This sanding drum measures 3/4 in x 3/4 in x 1/4 in, providing a compact size ideal for detailed contour work. The exact dimensions help users select the right tool for precision sanding and finishing.

Its size allows it to fit into tight or hard-to-reach areas, making it suitable for polishing and blending on complex shapes. The 3/4 in diameter ensures compatibility with matching abrasive bands for smooth operation.

    Controlled Rubber Expansion

The rubber construction of the 700085 drum allows controlled expansion of the spiral band during use. This feature ensures a proper balance and smooth running at high speeds, which is essential for quality finishes.

Because the drum expands to fit the band securely, it prevents skipping or jumping over surfaces. This controlled fit helps maintain consistent contact with the workpiece for effective polishing and finishing.

    Compatible Abrasive Bands

This sanding drum pairs with coated abrasive bands or non-woven surface conditioning bands, sold separately. Using the same diameter drum and band is important to avoid skipping and ensure smooth operation.

The spiral bands can be used for polishing, blending, or finishing tasks. The drum's non-slip surface securely holds the band, making it easy to change bands without extra tools, saving time during work.

    Convenient Pack Size
