Recommended Applications
The multi-layered Standard Abrasives™ Aluminum Oxide Precision Cartridge Roll Model R (formerly Kay Rolls) has self-trimming capability during use that exposes new abrasive cutting points throughout the life of the roll. The secure bond of the roll to the drive stem eliminates loosening and vibration. This makes our Precision Cartridge Roll especially beneficial when high tolerance and precision grinding are required.Combining an aggressive cut with durability makes it great for polishing, edge breaking and removal of machine tool marks or flash. Its small size and shape enable it to blend, deburr and polish inside holes and diameters or on irregular surfaces and contours. The mounted stem attaches to a high speed rotary tool such as a die grinder or drill for smooth, controlled high-speed grinding.
Running a Cartridge Roll on a High-Speed Tool
The Model R cartridge roll has a rear mounted 1/4˝ stem making the entire roll usable for increased productivity and reduced downtime. This stem attaches to a rotary tool such as a die grinder or drill for smooth, controlled high-speed grinding, and negates the need for a separate mandrel attachment.Aluminum Oxide Cartridges Offer a Broad Range of Options
We offer Aluminum Oxide Precision Cartridge Rolls in a wide variety of sizes and grades to suit particular contours and different applications. For Model R, grades range from 40-320, producing a spectrum of finishes from coarse to fine. Aluminum oxide mineral cuts sharp and is friable – fragmenting under heat and pressure to reveal sharp cutting edges as it abrades the surface.Benefits of a Multi-Layer Design
Seemingly small, these cartridge rolls conquer big challenges when space gets tight. The multi-layer, multi-wear design of a Standard Abrasives™ Cartridge Roll keeps it cutting sharp and helps it withstand repeated wear. As top layers wear down with use, underlying layers expose fresh mineral, so you get a continuous and consistent cut, part after part. Wrapping multiple layers of the abrasive material around into a roll contributes to its sturdiness and durability.A resin bond securely anchors mineral to the cloth backing – also enhancing the abrasive's toughness and strength. The closed-coat construction means mineral grains cover 100 percent of the cloth backing, so that a smoother, more consistent finish is achieved.
Quality Standard Abrasives™ Solutions for Industrial Applications
The Standard Abrasives brand has supplied quality abrasives to the metalworking industry for over 50 years. Customers rely on our broad offering of high performance products including coated, bonded, and non-woven abrasive lines.Standard Abrasives Model
The Standard Abrasives A/O Precision Cartridge Roll, model 726015 R6-ST, offers reliable performance for precision grinding. This cartridge roll is designed with a rear-mounted 1/4 inch stem, which ensures stability and smooth operation during use.
Its solid construction and attached drive stem help reduce vibration and loosening, making it a dependable choice for high tolerance applications. The model R6-ST is ideal for users needing consistent quality in their abrasive tools.
Precise Size And Format
This cartridge roll measures 3/8 inch by 1-3/4 inch by 1/4 inch, providing a compact size that fits tight spaces. Its straight cylinder shape allows it to easily follow contours, making it perfect for detailed work on irregular surfaces.
The roll format includes a multi-layer design that exposes fresh abrasive as it wears, extending the tool's life. The 1/4 inch rear-mounted stem fits directly into rotary tools without needing extra mandrels.
Wide Grade Range
The product includes grades up to 120 grit, suitable for a variety of finishing needs. This grade level balances aggressive cutting with durability, making it effective for polishing, edge breaking, and removing machine tool marks.
Aluminum oxide mineral is used for the abrasive, which fragments under heat and pressure to reveal sharp cutting edges. This ensures a consistent cut and finish throughout the roll’s use.
Durable Multi-Layer Design
The multi-layer construction of this cartridge roll continually reveals fresh abrasive layers, maintaining cutting efficiency over time. This design helps the roll withstand repeated wear and tear during high-speed grinding.
Each layer is securely bonded to a cloth backing with a resin bond, enhancing toughness and strength. The closed-coat construction ensures full coverage of abrasive grains for a smooth, consistent finish.
Convenient Pack Size
This product comes in a pack of 25 cartridges per pack, with 250 cartridges per case, ideal for industrial or frequent use. The pack size supports efficient inventory management and reduces downtime by providing ample supply.
Its compact size and rear-mounted stem make it compatible with die grinders and drills, allowing for quick tool changes and continuous productivity on various projects.
