Scotch-Brite Ultra Fine Hand Pad 7448 combines durability for long life, flexibility for reaching tight areas, and can be used in place of steel wool for conditioning metal surfaces and paint prep. Unlike fine steel wool, Scotch-Brite pads will not shred during use, rust after use, or leave fine metal splinters.

The durable open-web construction of our Scotch-Brite Ultra Fine Hand Pad is load resistant, offers long life and consistent abrasive action for cleaning, finishing, and buffing with no need to adjust, turnover, or continue the same project with a new pad. The pad gets into corners and works detailed surfaces without altering the dimensions of the base material. Designed to run cleaner and longer than steel wool, this versatile pad is a useful item for any workshop. The Scotch-Brite Ultra Fine Hand Pad can be used right out of the box by hand, paired with a hand pad block, or run on an in-line sander for faster completion on larger areas.

This grey pad is filled with silicon carbide abrasive mineral, a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint prep. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish.

Our Scotch-Brite abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven fiber matrix. Combining abrasives and non-woven material creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers.

    Scotch-Brite Hand Pad

The Scotch-Brite Hand Pad 7448 is a trusted choice for surface conditioning. This model combines the brand’s quality with a unique non-woven web that resists load and heat, ensuring consistent finishing throughout its use.

Designed for durability, this pad performs like steel wool grade 00 but without shredding or rusting. It’s ideal for cleaning and prepping metal, wood, plastics, and composites with a reliable finish every time.

    Ultra Fine Grade Performance

This hand pad features an ultra fine grade with silicon carbide abrasive, known for its sharpness and superior finish. The gray pad is perfect for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation, offering a smooth and effective result.

While silicon carbide breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it delivers a finer finish, making this pad a great choice for detailed surface work and blending tasks on various materials.

    Dimensions And Format

The pad measures 6 inches by 9 inches, providing a convenient size for hand use or with a hand pad block. Its flexible format allows it to conform to irregular surfaces and reach corners without losing performance.

This size is also suitable for use on in-line sanders, speeding up larger projects while maintaining consistent abrasive action and surface conditioning quality.

    Pack Count And Usage

Each carton contains 20 pads, and a full case includes 60 pads, making it easy to stock up for workshops or professional use. This pack size supports ongoing projects without frequent reordering.

The pads are ready to use right out of the box, whether by hand or machine, offering versatility and convenience for various finishing, cleaning, and prepping tasks.

    Consistent Finishing Benefits

The open-web construction of the Scotch-Brite Hand Pad 7448 ensures it runs cooler and resists clogging, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting effectively. This design supports long life and consistent results.

Its ability to clean without altering the base material makes it a reliable tool for metal, composites, and other surfaces, maintaining the integrity of the workpiece throughout the finishing process.
