  • Product Description
    • Abrasive grades are capable of producing high-luster finishes
    • Conformability adapts to interior contours, providing consistent abrasive action
    • Load resistance helps maintain peak cut-rate throughout the life of the product
    • Specialized abrasive tool for cleaning and polishing inside diameters 2-ply staggered design gets into hard-to-reach areas
Scotch-Brite Cross Buff polishes, cleans, satin finishes, denibs and defuzzes the interior diameters of metal components, such as lifter bores, valve bodies, valve spools, and tubing. Conformability of the nylon web makes this abrasive useful for removing surface oxidation, rust and corrosion on dies and molds prior to coating and polishing.

The 2-ply staggered design gives you consistent results, even in hard-to-reach locations, unique profiles, and interior contours. Our Scotch-Brite Cross Buffs are commonly used in aerospace, automotive and other industrial markets.

The purple cleaning and polishing tool uses an aluminum oxide abrasive capable of producing a high luster finish. Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate and long life. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing use. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.

Scotch-Brite is a unique surface conditioning product with abrasives incorporated into non-woven fibers. Combining abrasives into the fibers creates an abrasive system that gives you consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material is load resistant and keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers.

    Scotch-Brite Cross Buff

The Scotch-Brite Cross Buff is a specialized abrasive tool designed for cleaning and polishing inside diameters. This model, 1-1/2 in x 3/8 in x 2 PLY x 8-32 High Strength, offers a unique 2-ply staggered design that adapts well to interior contours for consistent abrasive action.

It’s ideal for polishing, cleaning, satin finishing, denibbing, and defuzzing metal components like lifter bores and valve bodies. The brand’s reputation ensures reliable performance in demanding industrial environments.

    High-Luster Abrasive Grades

This product uses abrasive grades capable of producing high-luster finishes, making it perfect for applications requiring a polished look. The aluminum oxide abrasive mineral is tough and durable, providing a long-lasting cut rate.

Aluminum oxide is widely used in metalworking and woodworking due to its hardness and low heat retention. It self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, maintaining performance longer than traditional abrasives.

    Dimensions And Format

The Cross Buff measures 1-1/2 inches by 3/8 inches, with a 2-ply construction and an 8-32 high strength thread. These dimensions make it suitable for reaching tight interior spaces and unique profiles.

Its format allows it to conform to interior contours, providing consistent abrasive action even in hard-to-reach areas. This makes it a versatile tool for aerospace, automotive, and industrial markets.

    Load Resistance And Performance

Load resistance is a key feature that helps maintain peak cut-rate throughout the product’s life. The open-web material limits clogging, keeping abrasive minerals cutting at high performance.

This design ensures consistent results over time, even when working on surfaces with oxidation, rust, or corrosion. It’s especially useful for preparing dies and molds before coating and polishing.

    Pack Size And Usage

This product comes in a pack of 25 per carton and 100 per case, making it convenient for bulk use in industrial settings. The pack size supports continuous work without frequent reordering.

Commonly used in aerospace and automotive industries, the Cross Buff’s pack count ensures availability for large projects requiring consistent abrasive quality and performance.
