    Use Wet or Dry
Used with water, 3M Wetordry Cloth Disc 281W prevents loading of the abrasive during the finishing process. It prevents dust and debris from clogging the abrasive and dulling the mineral, so it can continue cutting sharp and fast. This versatile cloth product is ideal on e-coat primer and may also be used dry for finishing metal and gel coats. In the marine industry, it’s commonly used for sanding old finishes, fine feather edging and surface work.

Our 3M Wetordry Cloth Disc 281W is made with aluminum oxide mineral, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral is tough and durable, self fracturing to expose fresh cutting edges. Conversely, traditional natural minerals like garnet dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness and strength, aluminum oxide is widely used in grinding applications, as well as sanding and finishing applications. It’s suitable for a wide variety of materials in both metalworking and the marine/fiberglass markets.

    The Benefits of Cloth-Backed Discs
We engineer our 3M Wetordry products to include a waterproof cloth backing, which supports both wet and dry applications. At the same time, these applications tend to produce a significant amount of dust, clogging the abrasive points and creating an inferior work environment. These effects may be minimized by sanding with water to rinse dust away from the workpiece and the abrasive surface.

Having a water-resistant abrasive can come in handy when finishing on materials like paint and primer. As these substrates tend to generate a lot of debris, our 3M Wetordry Cloth 281W can be paired with water to keep both the abrasive and workpiece clean and produce the soft finish industrial professionals desire.
