Product Description
- Adhesive backing allows for quick application and easy removal
- Aluminum oxide mineral is durable, cuts fast, and performs well on many surfaces
- Convenient disc rolls eliminate the need to remove disc liners from individual discs
- Load-resistant coating helps prevent premature loading of the disc surface to maximize cut and extend the life of the abrasive grains
- Strong, C-weight paper backing provides extra durability when compared to lighter weight paper backings
The open-coat construction and load-resistant coating help prevent clogging to maximize cut and the useful life of the disc. 3M Stikit Paper Disc Roll 236U can be used for sanding and finishing on many different surfaces, such as paint, primer, softwood, metal, plastic, hard and soft composites, and fiberglass.
Our 3M Stikit discs are designed to handle a wide range of sanding and finishing needs. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so they conveniently press on to the backup pad, and remove cleanly, leaving an uncontaminated surface for the next disc. The Stikit disc should be used in conjunction with our 3M Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander.
Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
3M Stikit Paper Discs feature a load-resistant coating that allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the surface of the disc and hinder sanding ability. An open coat means the abrasive grains are spaced slightly apart so that dust can escape rather than loading the cutting edge of the grains, thereby optimizing cut-rate and disc life.
Trusted 3M Stikit Model
The 3M Stikit Paper Disc Roll 236U is a reliable choice for sanding tasks. This model features a P80 C-weight grade that balances durability and performance for various surfaces.
Designed with the 3M brand's quality standards, the 236U model ensures consistent results. Its adhesive backing allows quick application and easy removal, making it user-friendly.
Strong C-Weight Backing
The discs come with a strong C-weight paper backing, which offers extra durability compared to lighter paper backings. This backing resists wear during aggressive sanding jobs.
This durable backing supports the aluminum oxide mineral abrasive, helping the disc maintain its shape and effectiveness over time. It’s ideal for tough sanding tasks.
Convenient Roll Format
Each roll contains 100 discs, and the product includes 4 rolls per case, providing a total of 400 discs. This roll format eliminates the need to remove liners from individual discs.
The 5 inch diameter discs with NH (non-hole) design fit well on compatible backup pads. This format speeds up sanding prep and reduces waste from liners.
Durable Aluminum Oxide Abrasive
The abrasive mineral used is aluminum oxide, known for its fast cutting and long life. It performs well on many surfaces including paint, metal, wood, and composites.
Aluminum oxide self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, maintaining sharpness longer than natural abrasives. This makes it suitable for both woodworking and metalworking.
Load-Resistant Coating Benefits
The discs feature a load-resistant coating that prevents premature clogging. This coating helps maximize the cut rate and extends the life of the abrasive grains.
Open-coat construction spaces abrasive grains to allow dust to escape, keeping the disc effective when sanding softwoods, paints, and other clog-prone materials.
