Designed for use with a random orbital sander, our discs are made of long-lasting aluminum oxide abrasive grains on a light A-weight paper backing suitable for lightweight sanding and finishing. The open coat and load-resistant coating help prevent loading for a longer service life, and make 3M Stikit Gold Paper Disc Roll 216U discs well-suited for general sanding and finishing applications on a variety of substrates, including paint, primer, wood, metal, plastic, and composites, including fiberglass.
3M Stikit discs are designed to handle a wide range of sanding and finishing needs. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so they conveniently press on to the backup pad, and remove cleanly, leaving an uncontaminated surface for the next disc. A Stikit disc should be used in conjunction with a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a random orbital sander.
Loading occurs when wood or paint dust clogs the surface of the disc and the abrasive points, which can quickly make the disc ineffective. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are spaced so that dust and debris can collect in the spaces rather than loading the disc. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, for faster results.
Trusted 3M Stikit Model
The 3M Stikit Gold Paper Disc Roll 216U is a reliable choice for sanding tasks. This model features the trusted 3M brand and the Stikit system, which uses a pressure sensitive adhesive backing for easy attachment to a Stikit backup pad.
Designed for convenience, these discs come in a roll format, eliminating the need for liners and speeding up your workflow. The 216U model is ready to use with a random orbital sander, making it a practical option for many projects.
Precise P400 A-weight Grade
This product uses a P400 A-weight grade, which is ideal for finishing applications. The light paper backing supports fine sanding and helps achieve smooth surfaces without aggressive material removal.
With the P400 grade, these discs are well-suited for tasks like paint and primer sanding, as well as working on wood and metal. The A-weight backing ensures the discs are flexible enough for detailed finishing work.
Optimal 5 Inch Size
The discs measure 5 inches in diameter, fitting standard Stikit backup pads. This size is common for random orbital sanders, providing a good balance between coverage and control during sanding.
At 5 inches, these discs are versatile for various surfaces including plastic and composites. The size supports efficient sanding on both large flat areas and smaller detailed spots.
Convenient Roll Format
Each roll contains 75 discs, and the product comes with 6 rolls per case. This roll format means you can quickly grab discs without dealing with liners, improving productivity on the job.
The roll design also helps keep discs organized and protected until use. Having 450 discs in total ensures you have plenty of abrasive material for extended projects or multiple jobs.
Durable Die 500X Construction
The Die 500X format enhances durability and performance. These discs feature an aluminum oxide mineral that cuts fast and lasts longer on many surfaces, including fiberglass and composites.
Open coat construction minimizes dust buildup, reducing loading and extending disc life. This makes the Die 500X discs effective for general sanding and finishing across a variety of materials.
