Designed for use with a random orbital sander, our discs are made of long-lasting aluminum oxide abrasive grains on a light A-weight paper backing suitable for lightweight sanding and finishing. The open coat and load-resistant coating help prevent loading for a longer service life, and make 3M Stikit Gold Paper Disc Roll 216U discs well-suited for general sanding and finishing applications on a variety of substrates, including paint, primer, wood, metal, plastic, and composites, including fiberglass.
3M Stikit discs are designed to handle a wide range of sanding and finishing needs. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so they conveniently press on to the backup pad, and remove cleanly, leaving an uncontaminated surface for the next disc. A Stikit disc should be used in conjunction with a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a random orbital sander.
Loading occurs when wood or paint dust clogs the surface of the disc and the abrasive points, which can quickly make the disc ineffective. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are spaced so that dust and debris can collect in the spaces rather than loading the disc. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, for faster results.
Trusted 3M Stikit Model
The 3M Stikit Gold Paper Disc Roll 216U offers reliable sanding performance with a trusted brand name. This model features the P280 A-weight grade, ideal for fine finishing tasks.
Its design supports easy attachment to Stikit backup pads, making it a convenient choice for professionals and DIYers alike. The adhesive backing ensures quick application without liners.
Durable Aluminum Oxide Mineral
These discs use aluminum oxide mineral, known for durability and fast cutting. This mineral works well across many surfaces, providing consistent results.
Whether sanding wood, metal, or composites, the 3M Stikit Gold Paper Disc Roll 216U maintains performance thanks to its high-quality abrasive grains.
Convenient Roll Format
The product comes in a roll format measuring 5 inches by NH, with 175 discs per roll and 6 rolls per case. This setup eliminates the need to remove liners, saving time.
Having discs on a roll means you can quickly grab the amount needed without waste, boosting productivity during sanding projects.
Load-Resistant Coating Benefits
Featuring a load-resistant coating, these discs resist premature loading from dust and debris. This extends the life of the abrasive grains and keeps cutting efficient.
The coating helps maintain disc effectiveness, reducing downtime for cleaning or replacement during sanding tasks on paint or primer surfaces.
Open Coat Construction Advantage
The open coat design spaces abrasive grains to minimize dust buildup on both the disc and workpiece. This reduces clogging and improves sanding speed.
This construction also delivers a more aggressive cut compared to closed coat abrasives of the same grade, making it suitable for general sanding and finishing.
