Our 3M Stikit pressure sensitive adhesive backing provides ease of attachment to a random orbital sander and a clean, residue-free removal, while the roll form offers quick access to a disc and eliminates disc liners. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc’s load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.
We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when dust isn’t clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sawdust and other sanding debris and avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.
Our 3M Stikit system eliminates the time-consuming task of applying adhesive to the disc backing. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so that attaching them to your disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. And because the adhesive is pressure sensitive, the disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily, leaving a clean surface for your next disc. A Stikit disc must be pressed onto a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander.
Trusted 3M Stikit Model
The 3M Stikit Gold Film Disc Roll 255L is designed for professionals who need reliable sanding solutions. This model features the trusted 3M Stikit adhesive backing, which makes attaching and removing discs quick and hassle-free.
Its pressure-sensitive adhesive allows you to press the disc onto a compatible Stikit backup pad easily. This system ensures clean removal without residue, making it perfect for high-production environments.
Durable Aluminum Oxide Abrasive
These discs use aluminum oxide abrasive, known for its fast cut-rate and long-lasting performance. This mineral self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, maintaining effectiveness longer than natural abrasives.
Ideal for sanding wood, paint prep, and defect repair, the P80 grade ensures a balance between aggressive cutting and smooth finishing. The 5 in x NH size fits many standard random orbital sanders.
Convenient Roll Format
The product comes in a convenient disc roll form, containing 100 discs per roll and 4 rolls per case. This eliminates the need to remove liners from individual discs, saving time during sanding projects.
This roll format is especially useful in busy workshops where quick access to discs is essential. The die 500X cut ensures consistent disc size for uniform sanding results.
Open Coat Load Resistance
Featuring an open coat construction and load-resistant coating, these discs resist clogging from dust and debris. This design helps maintain aggressive cutting performance even when sanding softwoods or painted surfaces.
The open coat also provides a more aggressive cut compared to closed coat abrasives of the same grade, increasing productivity and reducing material waste during sanding tasks.
Tear-Resistant Film Backing
The tear-resistant film backing offers a close-tolerance, consistent finish that outperforms paper-backed alternatives. This backing is flexible yet durable, making it suitable for demanding sanding applications.
Combined with the 5 in x NH disc size and P80 grade, the film backing supports reliable performance under high heat and pressure, ensuring smooth results on wood and metal surfaces alike.
