Our 3M Stikit pressure sensitive adhesive backing provides ease of attachment to a random orbital sander and a clean, residue-free removal, while the roll form offers quick access to a disc and eliminates disc liners. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc’s load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.
We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when dust isn’t clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sawdust and other sanding debris and avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.
Our 3M Stikit system eliminates the time-consuming task of applying adhesive to the disc backing. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so that attaching them to your disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. And because the adhesive is pressure sensitive, the disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily, leaving a clean surface for your next disc. A Stikit disc must be pressed onto a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander.
Trusted 3M Stikit Model
The 3M Stikit Gold Film Disc Roll 255L is designed for professionals who need reliable sanding solutions. This model features the 3M Stikit adhesive backing, making it quick to apply and easy to remove from your random orbital sander.
Its pressure sensitive adhesive ensures a clean, residue-free removal, saving time during sanding tasks. The Stikit system works seamlessly with compatible backup pads, enhancing your workflow efficiency.
Precise Size And Format
Each disc in this roll measures 5 inches in diameter with a NH arbor hole, fitting most standard random orbital sanders. The roll format contains 125 discs per roll, providing a continuous supply without the hassle of individual liners.
With 4 rolls per case, you get a total of 500 discs, ideal for high-production environments. This format reduces downtime by allowing quick disc access and application during sanding projects.
Durable Aluminum Oxide Abrasive
The P320 grade aluminum oxide abrasive on these discs offers a fast cut rate and long life. This mineral is known for its toughness and ability to self-fracture, exposing fresh cutting edges for consistent performance.
It works well on various surfaces including wood, paint prep, and defect repair. The abrasive’s strength makes it suitable for both woodworking and metalworking tasks, including ferrous alloys.
Effective Open Coat Construction
The open coat design spaces abrasive grains to prevent clogging from dust and debris. This helps maintain cutting efficiency and extends disc life, especially when sanding softwoods or painted surfaces.
Additionally, the load-resistant coating further reduces clogging, allowing the disc to maintain an aggressive cut. This feature improves productivity and reduces material waste during sanding.
Reliable Film Backing Finish
The tear-resistant film backing on these discs provides a consistent, close-tolerance finish. It offers greater durability compared to paper-backed alternatives, making it suitable for demanding sanding jobs.
This backing supports the disc’s flexibility and strength, ensuring reliable performance under high heat and pressure. It helps achieve smooth results on wood and other surfaces.
