Our 3M Stikit pressure sensitive adhesive backing provides ease of attachment to a random orbital sander and a clean, residue-free removal, while the roll form offers quick access to a disc and eliminates disc liners. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc’s load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.
We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when dust isn’t clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sawdust and other sanding debris and avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.
Our 3M Stikit system eliminates the time-consuming task of applying adhesive to the disc backing. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so that attaching them to your disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. And because the adhesive is pressure sensitive, the disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily, leaving a clean surface for your next disc. A Stikit disc must be pressed onto a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander.
Trusted 3M Stikit Model
The 3M Stikit Gold Film Disc Roll 255L offers reliable performance with the trusted 3M brand and Stikit adhesive backing. This system allows quick application and easy removal, making it ideal for professionals who need efficiency on the job.
Designed specifically as a roll, this model provides discs that stick firmly yet peel off cleanly from your random orbital sander. The 255L grade ensures consistent sanding results across various surfaces.
Precise Size And Format
Each disc measures 5 inches in diameter and fits a NH arbor size, matching common sanding tools perfectly. The roll format simplifies handling by eliminating the need to remove liners from individual discs.
This convenient roll form speeds up your workflow by giving quick access to discs while maintaining the quality expected from 3M products. The die 500X cut ensures uniform disc shapes for consistent sanding.
Durable Aluminum Oxide Abrasive
The P240 grade aluminum oxide abrasive on these discs delivers a fast cut and long life. This mineral is known for self-sharpening properties, exposing fresh cutting edges for sustained performance.
Aluminum oxide works well on wood, paint prep, and defect repair, making these discs versatile for many applications. Their toughness suits both woodworking and metalworking tasks.
Effective Dust Prevention Features
Open coat construction spaces abrasive grains to prevent clogging from dust and debris. This design keeps the cutting surface clear, allowing for a more aggressive and consistent cut.
The load-resistant coating further reduces clogging, especially when sanding softwoods or painted surfaces. These features help maintain productivity and reduce material waste.
Large Pack Count Convenience
This product comes with 125 discs per roll and 4 rolls per case, providing a total of 500 discs ready for use. Such a pack size supports high-production environments without frequent reordering.
The tear-resistant film backing ensures discs hold up well during use, maintaining a close-tolerance finish throughout the pack. This makes the 3M Stikit Gold Film Disc Roll 255L a practical choice for busy workshops.
