Our discs feature a sturdy film backing that provides the durability needed for a high-production environment, and offer excellent resistance to edge tearing to increase the life of the disc over discs with standard A-weight paper backings. At the same time, the film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish, making it a good choice for applications such as spot repairs, sanding plastic parts, paint feathering on defects, or sanding automotive primer.
To help reduce loading on the disc, the disc has open coat construction without a load-resistant stearate coating. The Stikit adhesive on the backing conveniently attaches the disc to a low-profile 3M Stikit Disc Pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander. 3M Stikit Film Disc Roll 360L comes in a range of grades for various applications from fine sanding to finishing.
Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when dust isn’t loading the cutting surface of the abrasives. An open coat means the abrasive grains have space between them so that sanding debris collects in the spaces rather than loading the cutting edge of the grains. This feature has the added advantage of producing a more aggressive cut.
We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Our 3M Stikit system eliminates the time-consuming task of applying adhesive to the disc backing. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so that attaching them to your disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. And because the adhesive is pressure sensitive, the disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily, leaving a clean surface for your next disc. A Stikit disc must be pressed onto a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander.

Durable Film Backing Benefits
This product uses a durable film backing that is tear-resistant and provides a consistent finish. The film backing stands up well to high-production environments, extending the life of each disc.
Compared to standard paper backings, the film backing resists edge tearing and maintains close tolerances, making it ideal for spot repairs and paint feathering.
Size And Pack Convenience
The discs come in a 5 inch diameter size, perfect for many sanding applications. Each roll contains 125 discs, and the case includes 4 rolls, providing a large supply for ongoing projects.
This format eliminates the hassle of removing liners from individual discs. The roll format keeps discs organized and ready to use, improving efficiency on the job.
Aluminum Oxide Abrasive Quality
Featuring aluminum oxide abrasive, these discs deliver a fast cut and long life. This abrasive type is known for its toughness and ability to self-sharpen, making it suitable for many surfaces.
Aluminum oxide works well on plastics, gel coats, and polyurethane solid surfaces. It’s also widely used in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Open Coat Construction Advantage
The open coat design helps reduce loading by allowing sanding debris to clear from the abrasive surface. This results in a more aggressive cut and longer disc life.
Without a load-resistant stearate coating, the discs maintain their cutting ability longer. This feature supports fine sanding and finishing tasks with consistent results.
