3M Scotchkote Fusion-Bonded Epoxy Coating 6258 is a one-part, heat curable, thermosetting epoxy coating designed for protection from pipeline corrosion. Scotchkote 6258 utilizes special ingredients that promote superior adhesion to steel and epoxy novolac resins that significantly raise the glass transition temperature of the coating. These benefits make Scotchkote 6258 especially suitable as a base coating for 3 layer polypropylene pipeline coating systems operating at elevated temperatures. The epoxy is applied to preheated steel as a dry powder which melts and cures to a uniform coating thickness. This bonding process provides excellent foundation for overcoating with polypropylene. It is supplied in several gel times to accommodate application to all pipe sizes and is compatible with intermediate adhesive tie layers.

    3M Scotchkote Model

The 3M Scotchkote Fusion-Bonded Epoxy Coating 6258 offers reliable protection for pipelines. This exact model is designed to provide consistent application and performance, ensuring your pipeline coatings meet high standards.

Its one-part, heat-curable epoxy formula promotes strong adhesion to steel surfaces. The model 6258 is ideal for use as a base coating in multi-layer pipeline systems, enhancing durability and longevity.

    Enhanced Chemical Resistance

This coating stands out with enhanced chemical resistance under high temperatures and pressures. Such resistance is crucial for pipelines exposed to harsh environments, maintaining integrity over time.

Specifically, the 3M Scotchkote 6258 withstands aggressive chemicals while operating at elevated temperatures, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications.

    High Temperature Performance

Designed to operate effectively up to 275°F (135°C), this coating handles high temperature conditions without losing protective qualities. This temperature rating ensures reliability in hot pipeline environments.

The heat resistance supports long-term use in systems where temperature fluctuations are common, helping prevent corrosion and material degradation.

    65 Pound Box Packaging

The product comes in a 65 lb. box, providing a practical quantity for pipeline projects. This packaging size supports efficient handling and application on-site.

Having a consistent pack size like 65 lb. helps in planning material needs and reduces waste during coating operations.

    Fusion-Bonded Epoxy Format

The coating is supplied as a dry powder that melts and cures on preheated steel, forming a uniform fusion-bonded epoxy layer. This format ensures strong bonding and a smooth finish.

Its fusion-bonded nature makes it compatible with polypropylene overcoats, supporting multi-layer pipeline coating systems for enhanced protection.
