The mix ratio for 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP100 is 1:1 for quick, precise dispensing, and with a 5-minute working time there's some opportunity for repositioning for precise alignment of parts. The adhesive reaches handling strength in approximately 20 minutes and is fully cured in 48 hours (at 72°F/22°C). UL 94 HB certified.
Understanding Epoxy Adhesives
Epoxy adhesives, including 5 minute epoxy are part of the class of adhesives called "structural adhesives," which include polyurethane, acrylic, cyanoacrylate and others. Epoxies are formulated as liquid reactive polymers that undergo a chemical reaction when mixed and then cure to form a solid plastic material. Once the two parts are mixed in their specified ratio, they begin the curing process and offer a limited working time where the adhesive can be applied and the two surfaces positioned as needed. This work life lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. These structural adhesives provide high shear and peel strengths, depending on the formula, and better heat and chemical resistance than other common adhesives. In general, epoxy adhesives have the highest overall strength and offer the best performance and most resistance to high temperatures, solvents and outdoor weathering.
Epoxy adhesive (often referred to as epoxy glue) is widely used in building and home construction; aircraft and automobile manufacturing; bicycle, boat, golf clubs, ski and snowboard assembly as well as a host of home use and other applications. It is used virtually anywhere high-strength bonds are needed along with resistance to environmental conditions. These adhesives are popular for their ease of use, mechanical strength and chemical resistance. Formulations can be created to make epoxy for plastic flexible or epoxy for metal rigid, epoxy resin transparent or opaque, quick setting or slow setting. The versatility with which these adhesives can be formulated helps meet almost any requirement for bonding wood, metal, glass, stone and various plastics.3M Scotch-Weld Model
The 3M Scotch-Weld Epoxy Adhesive DP100 is a trusted choice for strong, clear bonding. This exact model offers a clear formulation that cures rigidly, ensuring lasting adhesion on various materials.
Its Duo-Pak format allows for precise mixing and dispensing, making it easy to apply the adhesive accurately. This packaging style supports efficient use and reduces waste during application.
Clear Epoxy Adhesive Benefits
This epoxy adhesive features a transparent bond line thanks to its low viscosity and clear formula. This makes it ideal for applications where the bond should be discreet and visually seamless.
Because it cures to a rigid state, it provides strong structural bonds suitable for wood, metal, glass, stone, and various plastics. The clear finish maintains the appearance of the bonded materials.
Fast Five Minute Worklife
The DP100 offers a quick 5-minute open working time, allowing for adjustment and repositioning during assembly. This short worklife supports efficient production without sacrificing bond quality.
Handling strength is achieved in about 20 minutes, with full cure in 24 to 48 hours at 73 °F (23 °C). This fast curing time helps speed up project completion while ensuring durability.
200 mL Duo-Pak Format
Each Duo-Pak contains 200 mL of adhesive, providing a convenient size for many bonding tasks. This format supports the 1:1 mix ratio, ensuring precise and consistent adhesive preparation.
The Duo-Pak packaging is available in cases of 12, making it suitable for both small and larger scale industrial or commercial use. It pairs well with 3M dispensing equipment for ease of application.
Versatile Industrial Applications
The DP100 adhesive is certified UL 94 HB and works well across transportation, construction, electrical, signage, and consumer goods industries. Its strong shear strength supports permanent bonds in demanding environments.
It bonds a variety of substrates including wood, metal, glass, stone, and plastics. This versatility makes it a reliable choice for general industrial and structural bonding needs.
