The paper backing provides smooth operation and durability. The abrasive side features a semi-closed coat structure that provides greater grain density to achieve finer finishes than open coat belts. This belt also features our dust management technology that reduces static charge in the dust particles, allowing them to be pulled away when coupled with an efficient dust collection system.
To help provide your desired finishing results, the belt ends are joined using a sine wave splice that promotes belt strength and resists hinging and splice fatigue. The splice travels smoothly over contact wheels and platens, minimizes chatter marks, and promotes smooth operation in either direction for consistent finishing results.
Our 3M Paper Belt 466UZ uses silicon carbide, a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low pressure applications such as final finishing in whitewood sanding. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish.
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different applications on both wood and metal. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used to dimension and sand large wooden panels, smooth rough cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts fit onto edge or portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors.
Trusted 3M Paper Belt
The 3M Paper Belt 466UZ is a reliable choice for sanding tasks. This model features silicon carbide mineral bonded to an F-weight paper backing, ensuring durability and smooth operation. The brand’s reputation guarantees consistent quality in every belt.
Designed for woodworking and finishing, the 466UZ model offers a smooth running experience. Its construction supports efficient sanding on flat surfaces, making it a dependable tool for professionals and hobbyists alike.
Durable F-weight Backing
The belt uses an F-weight, Fullflex heavy paper backing that provides excellent durability. This backing supports smooth operation in either direction, which helps maintain consistent sanding results over time.
F-weight is one of the heaviest paper backings available, offering more durability than cloth-backed belts of the same grade. This makes it ideal for demanding sanding applications requiring a finer finish.
Precise Sine-lok Splice
The sine wave splice technology in this belt prevents hinging in the splice area and resists fatigue. This design minimizes chatter marks and promotes smooth operation, which is essential for achieving a high-quality finish.
This splice travels smoothly over contact wheels and platens, allowing the belt to run consistently in either direction. It enhances belt strength and reduces wear, extending the belt’s useful life.
Optimal Size And Format
The belt measures 37 inches by 75 inches, fitting a variety of industrial belt sanders. This size is versatile enough for sanding large wooden panels or smoothing metal edges, making it suitable for many applications.
Sold in a pack of 5 belts per case, this format ensures you have enough supply for multiple projects or extended use. The size and pack count make it convenient for both professional shops and serious DIYers.
Fine P180 Grade Finish
The P180 F-weight grade offers a semi-closed coat construction that produces a finer finish than open coat abrasives. This helps achieve smooth, detailed results on wood and metal surfaces.
Using silicon carbide abrasive, this belt delivers a sharper cut and superior finish compared to aluminum oxide. It’s especially effective for final finishing in woodworking, providing a clean and polished surface.
