We gave these discs premium, micron-graded aluminum oxide abrasive, which is bonded to a durable polyester film backing to produce a fast cut-rate and uniform finish on wood, solid surface composites, plastic, fiberglass, paint prep, coating and corrosion removal, primer, e-coat, metal, or where loading is an issue. An anti-load coating and open coat surface increase efficiency and product life by minimizing loading. The abrasive is resin-bonded and supports disc flexibility without sacrificing durability and reliable performance under high heat and pressure. To compliment the effective abrasive action, the polyester film backing flexes to help achieve a consistent finish over contours and offers greater tear-resistance than comparable paper products, making it ideal for high-production environments. And the pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) provides easy attachment, holds the disc securely in place during use, and removes cleanly from the backup pad (sold separately). Designed for use with orbital and random orbital sanders, this disc comes in a range of micron grades and dust free option for complete multi-step sanding and finishing.
Our 3M™ Microfinishing PSA Film Disc Roll 366L features precision, micron-graded aluminum oxide, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Sanding discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sawdust and other sanding debris and avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.
Our 3M™ sanding discs come in a variety of forms to fit various power tools and disc pads. These high-quality abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so they conveniently press on to a backup pad or hand pad, and remove cleanly, leaving an uncontaminated surface for the next sheet or disc.
3M Microfinishing PSA Film
The 3M Microfinishing PSA Film Disc Roll 366L offers a reliable sanding solution with pressure sensitive adhesive backing for easy attachment and clean removal. This model ensures quick setup and secure hold during use, making it ideal for multi-step finishing processes.
Designed for high-production environments, the 366L model features a durable polyester film backing that flexes to maintain consistent finishing on contoured surfaces. This flexibility helps achieve uniform results across various materials.
Precision Micron-Graded Abrasive
This product uses precision, micron-graded aluminum oxide abrasive, known for its fast cut rate and long life. The 40 Mic 3MIL grade provides a consistent finish on wood, composites, plastics, and metals, making it versatile for many applications.
Aluminum oxide is a tough mineral that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, maintaining performance over time. This abrasive is suitable for both woodworking and metalworking tasks, including corrosion removal and paint prep.
Open Coat Load-Resistant Design
The open coat construction spaces abrasive grains to reduce clogging and improve dust evacuation. This design enhances cutting efficiency and extends disc life, especially when sanding softwoods, paints, or other clogging-prone materials.
Additionally, the load-resistant coating prevents dust and debris from blocking the disc surface, allowing continuous cutting. This feature results in a more aggressive cut compared to closed coat abrasives of the same grade.
Size Format And Packaging
The discs come in a 5 inch diameter with NH (non-hole) format, making them compatible with various orbital and random orbital sanders. This size fits many standard backup pads for convenient use.
Each roll contains 125 discs, and the product is sold as 4 rolls per case. This packaging supports high-volume sanding needs and reduces downtime by providing ample supply in one case.
Durable Film Backing Benefits
The 3MIL polyester film backing offers tear resistance and flexibility, outperforming paper-backed alternatives. This durability supports reliable performance under high heat and pressure during sanding operations.
Its flexibility helps maintain a consistent finish on contoured surfaces, while the pressure sensitive adhesive backing ensures easy attachment and clean removal. This combination makes the discs suitable for demanding industrial use.
