  • Product Description
    • 3M Hookit discs are easy to change and reuse, maximizing utility for the life of the disc
    • Aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut, long life, and professional performance on many surfaces
    • Load-resistant coating prevents dust and debris from clogging the disc
    • Open coat construction provides a more aggressive cut
    • Tear-resistant film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish
3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. The flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment.

Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.

We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.

Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.

Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.

    Trusted 3M Hookit Quality

The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L offers reliable performance with the trusted 3M brand behind it. This model features the Hookit system, making disc changes quick and easy while allowing reuse to maximize the disc’s lifespan.

    Precise P80 Grade Performance

This disc comes in the P80 grade, which balances aggressive cutting with smooth finishing. The P80 grit is perfect for paint prep, defect repair, and general sanding on wood and other materials.

Using the P80 grade helps achieve a uniform finish while maintaining productivity. It’s a versatile choice for both fine sanding and more demanding surface preparation tasks.

    Durable 6 Inch Size

The 6 inch diameter of this Hookit Gold Film Disc fits most random orbital sanders, offering a comfortable size for detailed work and larger surface areas alike. This size supports efficient sanding without sacrificing control.

Its dimensions make it suitable for woodworking, metalworking, and paint prep applications. The 6 inch size ensures compatibility with many sanding tools, enhancing its versatility.

    Advanced Film Backing Technology

The disc features a tear-resistant film backing that provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish. This backing is more durable than paper, making it well-suited for high-production environments.

Film backing also offers flexibility and strength, helping the disc maintain shape and performance under pressure. This ensures a smooth sanding experience with reliable results.

    Convenient 75 Disc Pack

Each carton contains 75 discs, and the case includes 300 discs total, making it easy to stock up for ongoing projects. This pack size supports continuous work without frequent reordering.

Having 75 discs per carton is ideal for workshops and professionals who need a steady supply. It reduces downtime and keeps sanding tasks moving efficiently.
