  • Product Description
    • 3M Hookit discs are easy to change and reuse, maximizing utility for the life of the disc
    • Aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut, long life, and professional performance on many surfaces
    • Load-resistant coating prevents dust and debris from clogging the disc
    • Open coat construction provides a more aggressive cut
    • Tear-resistant film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish
3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. The flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment.

Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.

We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.

Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.

Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.

    Trusted 3M Hookit Model

The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L offers reliable performance with the trusted 3M brand. This model features the Hookit system, making disc changes quick and easy while allowing reuse to maximize the disc’s lifespan.

Designed for professionals, the 255L model ensures consistent results across various surfaces. Its hook-and-loop attachment fits securely on backup pads, enhancing productivity in demanding work environments.

    Precise P320 Grade Finish

This disc comes in a P320 grade, ideal for fine sanding and finishing tasks. The grade ensures a close-tolerance finish, perfect for paint prep and defect repair on wood and other materials.

Using P320 helps achieve smooth surfaces without over-sanding. It’s a great choice when a refined finish is needed, especially in woodworking and finishing applications.

    Durable 6 Inch Size

The disc measures 6 inches in diameter, a common size that fits many random orbital sanders. This size balances coverage and control, allowing efficient sanding without sacrificing precision.

Its 6-inch dimension makes it versatile for various projects, from small repairs to larger surface preparation. It’s compatible with standard sanding equipment for easy integration into your workflow.

    Reliable Film Backing Format

The Gold Film Disc uses a tear-resistant film backing, providing durability and a consistent finish. This backing outperforms paper alternatives by resisting tears and maintaining close tolerances during sanding.

Film backing also supports the aluminum oxide abrasive’s fast cut rate. It’s well-suited for high-production environments where disc longevity and finish quality are critical.

    Bulk Pack Count Advantage

This product is sold in a pack of 100 discs per carton, with 400 discs per case. Buying in bulk reduces downtime and ensures you have enough discs for extended projects.

Large pack sizes are ideal for workshops and industrial settings where frequent disc changes are necessary. The bulk count supports cost-effective purchasing and inventory management.
