  • Product Description
    • 3M Hookit discs are easy to change and reuse, maximizing utility for the life of the disc
    • Aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut, long life, and professional performance on many surfaces
    • Load-resistant coating prevents dust and debris from clogging the disc
    • Open coat construction provides a more aggressive cut
    • Tear-resistant film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish
3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. The flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment.

Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.

We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.

Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.

Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.

    Trusted 3M Hookit Model

The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L is designed for professionals who need reliable sanding solutions. This model features the trusted 3M brand and the Hookit system, which allows discs to be easily changed and reused, maximizing their lifespan.

Its hook-and-loop attachment works well with random orbital sanders, making it simple to switch between grades without wasting discs. This model is ideal for users who want consistent performance and easy handling.

    Precise P180 Grade Performance

This disc comes in the P180 grade, offering a fine sanding and finishing option for various surfaces. The P180 grit is perfect for paint preparation, defect repair, and wood finishing, providing a smooth and uniform finish.

Using the P180 grade ensures a balance between aggressive cutting and fine finishing, making it suitable for both woodworking and metalworking tasks where detail matters.

    Durable 3 Inch Size

The 3 inch diameter of this sanding disc fits many standard random orbital sanders, providing versatility in different work environments. This size is compact enough for detailed work yet large enough for efficient sanding.

Its dimensions make it easy to handle and maneuver, especially in tight spots or for precision sanding, while still covering enough surface area for productivity.

    Reliable Film Backing Format

The Gold Film Disc 255L uses a tear-resistant film backing, which offers a close-tolerance and consistent finish. This backing is more durable than paper, resisting tears and extending the disc’s usable life.

Film backing also supports the aluminum oxide abrasive grain, helping maintain a fast cut-rate and uniform finish on wood, paint prep, and other surfaces, even under high heat and pressure.

    Convenient 50 Per Carton

Each carton contains 50 discs, providing a practical pack size for professionals and workshops. This quantity supports high-production environments where frequent disc changes are necessary.

With 200 discs per case, users can stock up for extended projects or multiple workstations, ensuring they always have the right sanding disc on hand.
