  • Product Description
    • 3M Hookit discs are easy to change and reuse, maximizing utility for the life of the disc
    • Aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut, long life, and professional performance on many surfaces
    • Load-resistant coating prevents dust and debris from clogging the disc
    • Open coat construction provides a more aggressive cut
    • Tear-resistant film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish
3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. The flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment.

Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.

We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.

Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.

Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.

    Trusted 3M Hookit Model

The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L is designed for professionals who need reliable sanding solutions. This model features the 3M Hookit system, which allows discs to be easily changed and reused, maximizing their lifespan and reducing waste.

Its hook-and-loop attachment works well with random orbital sanders, making it simple to switch between grades without hassle. The 255L model is known for delivering consistent finishes on various surfaces.

    Precise 5 Inch Size

This sanding disc measures 5 inches in diameter, a common size that fits many standard random orbital sanders. The 5 in dimension ensures compatibility with a wide range of tools, making it versatile for different sanding tasks.

Its size is ideal for detailed work as well as broader surface preparation, providing a balance between control and coverage. The 5 in disc is perfect for wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications.

    Durable NH P400 Grade

The disc comes in the NH P400 grade, offering a fine sanding option for finishing tasks. This grade is suitable for achieving smooth, close-tolerance finishes on wood and painted surfaces.

Using the P400 grade helps professionals refine surfaces before final coatings or treatments. It’s a reliable choice for defect repair and detailed surface preparation, ensuring quality results.

    Reliable Film Backing Format

The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L uses a tear-resistant film backing, which provides durability and consistent performance. This film backing is more flexible and resistant to tearing compared to traditional paper, making it ideal for high-production environments.

Film backing helps maintain a close-tolerance finish and withstands the pressure and heat generated during sanding. This format supports the disc’s long life and professional-grade performance.

    Convenient 100 Per Carton

Each carton contains 100 discs, and the product is sold in cases of 4 cartons, providing a total of 400 discs per case. This pack size supports large-scale projects and frequent sanding needs without frequent reordering.

Having 100 discs per carton ensures that users have enough supply for continuous work, reducing downtime. The bulk packaging is practical for workshops and industrial settings.
