Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.
We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.
Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.
Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.
Trusted 3M Hookit Quality
The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L offers reliable performance with the trusted 3M brand. This model features the Hookit system, making disc changes quick and easy while allowing reuse to maximize the disc's life. The hook-and-loop attachment ensures a secure fit on your sander.
Designed for professionals, this disc is ideal for wood, paint prep, and defect repair. The 3M Hookit system also helps reduce downtime by letting you switch grades efficiently before the disc wears out.
Precise 5 Inch Size
Measuring 5 inches in diameter with an NH arbor size, this disc fits most random orbital sanders perfectly. The 5 in x NH specification ensures compatibility with a wide range of sanding tools for versatile use.
This size is great for detailed sanding and finishing tasks, providing control and precision. Whether you're working on wood or metal, the 5-inch dimension balances coverage and maneuverability.
Durable Film Backing
The disc uses a tear-resistant film backing, which offers a consistent, close-tolerance finish. This backing is stronger than paper alternatives, making it suitable for high-production environments where durability matters.
Thanks to the film backing, the disc maintains its shape and performance under pressure and heat. This helps deliver uniform results on various surfaces, including wood and painted materials.
Grade P120 Abrasive Power
This model comes with a P120 grade, providing a balanced cut rate and finish quality. The aluminum oxide abrasive grain ensures fast cutting and long life, ideal for both sanding and finishing applications.
The P120 grade is versatile for many tasks, from smoothing wood surfaces to prepping paint. Its open coat design helps prevent clogging, keeping the abrasive sharp and effective throughout use.
Convenient 100 Pack Carton
Each carton contains 100 discs, making it easy to stock up for large projects or ongoing work. The pack size supports continuous sanding without frequent reordering, improving workflow efficiency.
With 400 discs per case, this format suits workshops and industrial settings. The bulk packaging ensures you always have the right disc on hand, reducing downtime during sanding jobs.
