  • Product Description
    • 3M Hookit discs are easy to change and reuse, maximizing utility for the life of the disc
    • Aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut, long life, and professional performance on many surfaces
    • Load-resistant coating prevents dust and debris from clogging the disc
    • Open coat construction provides a more aggressive cut
    • Tear-resistant film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish
3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. The flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment.

Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.

We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.

Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.

Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.

    Trusted 3M Hookit Model

The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L is designed for professionals who need reliable sanding solutions. This model features the trusted 3M brand known for quality and durability in abrasive products.

Its hook-and-loop attachment system allows easy disc changes and reusability, maximizing the life of the disc. The 255L model is ideal for various sanding tasks requiring consistent performance.

    Precise 5 Inch Size

This disc measures 5 inches in diameter, making it compatible with many random orbital sanders. The size offers a good balance between surface coverage and control during sanding.

With a 5-hole pattern, it ensures efficient dust extraction when used with compatible sanding tools, helping maintain a clean work area and prolonging disc life.

    Durable P220 Grade Abrasive

The P220 grade provides a fine sanding finish suitable for paint preparation and defect repair. This grade balances material removal with surface smoothness for professional results.

Using aluminum oxide abrasive, the disc offers a fast cut rate and long life. This makes it effective on wood and other surfaces, maintaining performance throughout its use.

    Advanced Film Backing Format

The disc uses a tear-resistant film backing that delivers a consistent, close-tolerance finish. This backing is more durable than paper, ideal for high-production environments.

Its open coat construction prevents clogging by dust and debris, allowing a more aggressive cut and better sanding efficiency compared to closed coat abrasives.

    Convenient Pack Count Options

This product comes in cartons of 100 discs, with 4 cartons per case, totaling 400 discs. This pack size supports continuous work without frequent reordering.

The large pack count suits workshops and industrial settings where high volumes of sanding discs are needed, ensuring supply meets demand efficiently.
