  • Product Description
    • 3M Hookit discs are easy to change and reuse, maximizing utility for the life of the disc
    • Aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut, long life, and professional performance on many surfaces
    • Load-resistant coating prevents dust and debris from clogging the disc
    • Open coat construction provides a more aggressive cut
    • Tear-resistant film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish
3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. The flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment.

Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.

We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.

Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.

Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.

    Trusted 3M Hookit Model

The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L, 0956, P500 offers a reliable sanding solution from a trusted brand. This model features the Hookit system, allowing easy disc changes and reuse, which maximizes utility throughout the disc's life.

Designed for professionals, this disc is ideal for wood, paint prep, and defect repair. Its hook-and-loop attachment ensures quick switching between grades without wasting discs, making it efficient for various tasks.

    Precise 5 Inch Size

Measuring 5 inches in diameter with an NH arbor, this disc fits standard random orbital sanders perfectly. The size supports detailed work while covering enough surface area for efficient sanding.

Its die 500X format ensures consistent shape and fit, providing a close-tolerance finish. This dimension and format combination suits both fine sanding and finishing applications with ease.

    Durable P500 Grade Abrasive

The P500 grade aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut rate and long life, ideal for professional performance. This grade balances aggressiveness and finish quality, making it suitable for detailed surface preparation.

Aluminum oxide self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, maintaining effectiveness longer than natural abrasives. This makes the P500 grade a smart choice for both woodworking and metalworking tasks.

    Reliable Film Backing Format

The gold film backing provides tear resistance and a consistent finish, outperforming comparable paper-backed discs. This backing supports close-tolerance results and withstands high production environments.

Its open coat construction helps prevent clogging by allowing dust and debris to escape. This feature enhances sanding efficiency, especially on softwoods and painted surfaces.

    Convenient 100 Carton Pack

Each carton contains 100 discs, and the case includes 4 cartons, making 400 discs total. This pack size suits high-volume users who need a steady supply of quality sanding discs.

Having multiple cartons per case reduces downtime for restocking and supports continuous workflow. The pack count ensures you’re prepared for extended projects without frequent reordering.
