Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.
We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.
Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.
Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.
Trusted 3M Hookit Model
The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L, model 01067, offers reliable sanding performance with a trusted brand backing. This disc is designed for professionals who need consistent results and easy disc changes.
Its hook-and-loop attachment system allows quick swapping between grades, maximizing the life of each disc. The model 01067 is part of 3M’s well-known Hookit line, ensuring compatibility with many sanding tools.
Precise Size And Format
This sanding disc measures 5 inches in diameter and features an NH (non-hole) design, making it suitable for a variety of orbital sanders. The 5 in x NH size fits many standard sanding pads for versatile use.
Its die-cut 500FH format ensures a clean, consistent shape that maintains performance throughout its life. This size and format combination is ideal for detailed sanding and finishing tasks.
Durable Grade And Backing
The disc uses a P80 grade, providing a medium abrasive level suitable for paint prep and defect repair. This grade balances aggressive cutting with a smooth finish, perfect for many woodworking and finishing jobs.
It features a tear-resistant film backing that offers close-tolerance results and greater durability than paper-backed alternatives. This backing supports consistent sanding and reduces disc tearing during use.
Effective Load-Resistant Coating
Equipped with a load-resistant coating, the disc resists clogging from dust and debris, maintaining cutting efficiency longer. This feature helps keep the abrasive surface clear, improving productivity on softwoods and paints.
The open coat construction enhances this effect by spacing abrasive grains to allow dust to escape. This design results in a more aggressive cut and less frequent disc replacement during sanding.
Convenient Pack Size Options
Each carton contains 75 discs, and the product is sold in cases of 4 cartons, totaling 300 discs per case. This pack size supports high-volume use in professional settings, reducing the need for frequent reordering.
The large quantity ensures you have enough discs for extended projects or multiple jobs, making it a cost-effective choice for workshops and contractors.
