Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.
We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.
Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.
Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.
Trusted 3M Hookit Model
The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L, model 01059, offers reliable sanding performance with the trusted 3M brand. This disc is designed for professionals who need consistent results and durability in their sanding tasks.
Its hook-and-loop attachment system allows for easy changes and reusability, maximizing the life of the disc. The model 01059 is part of a line that supports efficient sanding workflows.
Precise 5 Inch Size
This sanding disc measures 5 inches in diameter with a NH (non-hole) 5-hole pattern, making it compatible with many random orbital sanders. The size ensures a good balance between surface coverage and control during sanding.
Its 5-hole design helps with dust extraction, improving sanding efficiency and keeping the work area cleaner. This size is ideal for wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications.
Durable P320 Grade Finish
The disc features a P320 grit grade, perfect for fine sanding and finishing tasks. This grade provides a close-tolerance finish, helping to prepare surfaces smoothly before painting or staining.
Using the P320 grade ensures a professional finish on various materials, including wood and metal, making it a versatile choice for detailed work and defect repair.
Advanced Film Backing Format
The Gold Film Disc 255L uses a tear-resistant film backing, which offers greater durability and consistent sanding results compared to paper-backed discs. This backing supports a uniform finish and withstands high production demands.
Its film backing also resists tearing during use, making it suitable for tough sanding jobs. The disc’s open coat construction further enhances its aggressive cutting ability without clogging.
Bulk Pack Convenience
This product comes in a bulk pack of 100 discs per carton, with 4 cartons per case, totaling 400 discs. This large quantity is ideal for workshops and industrial settings where frequent disc changes are necessary.
Buying in bulk helps reduce downtime and ensures a steady supply of the 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L for ongoing sanding projects, supporting productivity and cost efficiency.
