  • Product Description
    • 3M Hookit discs are easy to change and reuse, maximizing utility for the life of the disc
    • Aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut, long life, and professional performance on many surfaces
    • Load-resistant coating prevents dust and debris from clogging the disc
    • Open coat construction provides a more aggressive cut
    • Tear-resistant film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish
3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. The flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment.

Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.

We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.

Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.

Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.

    Trusted 3M Hookit Model

The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L, model 01057, offers reliable sanding performance with the trusted 3M brand behind it. This disc is designed for professionals who need consistent results and easy disc changes.

Its hook-and-loop attachment system allows quick swapping between grades without wasting discs. The model 01057 ensures compatibility with random orbital sanders, making it a versatile choice for many projects.

    Precise 5 Inch Size

This sanding disc measures 5 inches in diameter with a NH (non-hole) 5-hole pattern, fitting standard random orbital sanders. The size is ideal for detailed sanding and finishing tasks on wood and paint surfaces.

Its 5-hole format helps with dust extraction, improving sanding efficiency and keeping the work area cleaner. This size and hole pattern balance control and coverage for professional results.

    Durable P400 Grade Finish

The disc features a P400 grade, perfect for fine sanding and finishing applications. This grade provides a smooth, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair tasks.

Using the P400 grade helps achieve a professional surface quality, especially when preparing surfaces for painting or refinishing. It’s a versatile grit for many finishing needs.

    Reliable Film Backing Format

The Gold Film Disc 255L uses a tear-resistant film backing that offers durability and consistent sanding results. This film backing outperforms paper by resisting tears and providing a uniform finish.

Film backing also supports the disc’s load-resistant coating, which prevents clogging from dust and debris. This combination extends disc life and maintains cutting efficiency.

    Bulk Pack Convenience

This product comes in a pack of 100 discs per carton, with 4 cartons per case, totaling 400 discs. This bulk packaging suits high-production environments where frequent disc changes are necessary.

Having 400 discs on hand reduces downtime and ensures you always have the right disc ready. The pack size supports continuous workflow in busy workshops or industrial settings.
