  • Product Description
    • 3M Hookit discs are easy to change and reuse, maximizing utility for the life of the disc
    • Aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut, long life, and professional performance on many surfaces
    • Load-resistant coating prevents dust and debris from clogging the disc
    • Open coat construction provides a more aggressive cut
    • Tear-resistant film backing provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish
3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. The flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment.

Our 3M Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc's load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure.

We chose aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications.

Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't clogging the cutting surface of the abrasives. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sanding dust and other debris to avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the disc and hinder sanding ability. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. All of this adds up to increased productivity and reduced material consumption.

Here at 3M we offer a complete line of hook-and-loop style Hookit discs for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M Stikit disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive backed discs. Hookit sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and can be re-used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.

    Trusted 3M Hookit Model

The 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L, model 00965, is designed for easy changing and reusing, maximizing the life of each disc. This hook-and-loop system ensures quick attachment and removal, making it ideal for professionals who need efficiency.

Its hook-and-loop format works well with random orbital sanders, allowing users to switch between grades without wasting discs. The model 00965 is part of a reliable line that balances performance and convenience.

    Precise 5 Inch Size

This sanding disc measures 5 inches in diameter, a common size that fits many standard random orbital sanders. The size offers a good balance between coverage and control for detailed sanding tasks.

With a 5 in diameter, it’s well-suited for wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications, providing a consistent finish on various surfaces. This dimension supports both fine sanding and finishing jobs.

    Durable P120 Grade

The disc features a P120 grade, which is a medium grit suitable for smoothing surfaces and preparing them for finishing. This grade is versatile for both woodworking and metalworking tasks.

Using P120 abrasive helps achieve a uniform finish while efficiently removing material. It’s a popular choice for professionals who want a balance between cutting speed and surface smoothness.

    Reliable Film Backing Format

The Gold Film Disc uses a tear-resistant film backing that provides a close-tolerance, consistent finish. This backing is more durable than paper, making it ideal for high-production environments.

Film backing also supports the disc’s flexibility and resistance to tearing, which helps maintain performance under high heat and pressure. This format enhances the disc’s lifespan and finish quality.

    Large Pack Count Case

This product comes in a pack of 100 discs per carton, with 4 cartons per case, totaling 400 discs. This large pack size is perfect for workshops or production settings needing a steady supply.

Having 100 discs per carton ensures you won’t run out quickly during projects, and the 4-carton case makes storage and inventory management easier. It’s a cost-effective choice for frequent users.
