Product Description
- Designed for use with a 3M Disc Pad Hub
- Plate accommodates a fiber disc of equal diameter
- Plate color indicates disc density for easy identification in the workroom
- Various flexibilities support grinding applications ranging from lightweight to heavy-duty
This assembly allows 3M Disc Pad Face Plate to be easily changed without removing the disc pad hub, allowing the operator to use a single tool for multiple applications from heavy grinding to finishing a workpiece.
Some face plates have ribbing on the bottom face. Ribbed face plates provide additional force when needed for optimal fracturing of the abrasive mineral. By reducing the area of contact, or pressure per square foot (PSI), ribbed face plates increase the grinding pressure of the abrasive with the same amount of operator effort, and extend disc life when dulling is a problem.
Choose a plate with the level of firmness needed for the application—a lighter density face plate for lighter weight grinding applications, and a harder density face plate for more heavyweight grinding applications. Using the correct face plate for the application ensures that the abrasive mineral will fracture as it should, maximizing the life of the abrasive. The plate comes in one of four different colors that indicate the density so the correct plate can be easily identified in the workroom: red = extra hard (for heavy grinding with the coarsest grades), black = hard (for heavy metal removal, large welds, etc.), gray = medium (for general purpose grinding and finishing), and white = soft (for finishing operations on flat or contoured surfaces).
Trusted 3M Disc Pad
The 3M Disc Pad Face Plate Ribbed 80515 is designed for reliable performance with 3M disc pad hubs. This ensures compatibility and consistent results when paired with the right tools. The brand’s reputation guarantees quality in every use.
Using the exact model 80515 means you get a product tailored for specific grinding needs. The ribbed design adds extra force, improving abrasive fracturing and extending disc life during tough jobs.
Hard Black Plate Strength
This face plate comes in a hard black color, indicating its density level. It’s ideal for heavy metal removal and large weld grinding, providing the firmness needed for demanding tasks. The color coding helps quickly identify the right plate in busy workrooms.
Hard black plates support heavy-duty grinding applications by offering firm backing to the fiber disc. This ensures the abrasive mineral fractures properly, maximizing the disc’s lifespan and grinding efficiency.
Seven Inch Diameter Size
The 7 inch size of this face plate matches fiber discs of the same diameter, ensuring a perfect fit. This dimension is common for many grinding applications, making it versatile for various projects.
Having a consistent 7 inch diameter allows easy swapping of discs and face plates without compatibility issues. It supports a smooth workflow when changing between grinding and finishing tasks.
Case Of Ten Pack
Sold as a case of 10, this pack size is convenient for professionals who need multiple face plates on hand. It reduces downtime by keeping enough plates ready for different jobs or replacements.
Buying in bulk also offers cost efficiency and ensures you won’t run out during critical projects. The pack supports continuous work without frequent reordering.
Disc Pad Format System
The face plate is designed to back a fiber disc of equal diameter and works with a disc pad hub system. This format allows easy assembly and disassembly, saving time during tool changes.
Using the disc pad format means operators can switch plates without removing the hub, enabling one tool to handle multiple grinding applications from heavy to finishing work.
