Product Description
- Designed for use with a 3M Disc Pad Hub
- Plate accommodates a fiber disc of equal diameter
- Plate color indicates disc density for easy identification in the workroom
- Various flexibilities support grinding applications ranging from lightweight to heavy-duty
This assembly allows the 3M Disc Pad Face Plate to be easily changed without removing the disc pad hub, allowing the operator to use a single tool for multiple applications from heavy grinding to finishing a workpiece.
Some face plates have ribbing on the bottom face. Ribbed face plates provide additional force when needed for optimal fracturing of the abrasive mineral. By reducing the area of contact, or pressure per square inch (PSI), ribbed face plates increase the grinding pressure of the abrasive with the same amount of operator effort, and extend disc life when dulling is a problem.
Choose a plate with the level of firmness needed for the application—a lighter density face plate for lighter weight grinding applications, and a harder density face plate for more heavyweight grinding applications. Using the correct face plate for the application ensures that the abrasive mineral will fracture as it should, maximizing the life of the abrasive. The plate comes in one of four different colors that indicate the density so the correct plate can be easily identified in the workroom: red = extra hard (for heavy grinding with the coarsest grades), black = hard (for heavy metal removal, large welds, etc.), gray = medium (for general purpose grinding and finishing), and white = soft (for finishing operations on flat or contoured surfaces).
Trusted 3M Disc Pad
The 3M Disc Pad Face Plate 13325 is a reliable choice for grinding tasks. This model is designed specifically to work with a 3M Disc Pad Hub, ensuring compatibility and ease of use. Its medium gray color helps identify the disc density quickly in any workroom setting.
Using this face plate means you get consistent performance with a trusted brand. The 4-1/2 inch size fits standard fiber discs, making it a versatile option for many grinding applications. It comes in a convenient case of 10, perfect for keeping your workspace stocked.
Medium Gray Grinding Support
This face plate is medium gray, indicating its density level for general purpose grinding and finishing. The color coding helps operators select the right plate quickly without guesswork, improving workflow efficiency. The plate backs a fiber disc of equal diameter, providing firm support during use.
Its medium firmness suits a wide range of tasks, from light grinding to finishing workpieces. This balance helps maximize abrasive life and ensures the abrasive mineral fractures properly during use, which is key for effective grinding.
4-1/2 Inch Size Fit
The 4-1/2 inch diameter of this face plate matches standard fiber discs, making it easy to find compatible abrasives. This size is common in many grinding tools, so it fits well into existing setups. The plate is designed to be used with a disc pad hub and retainer nut, both sold separately.
This size allows for precise control and effective grinding on various surfaces. Whether you’re working on metal welds or finishing a flat surface, the 4-1/2 inch format provides the right balance of coverage and maneuverability.
Case Of Ten Pack
Sold as a case of 10, this pack size ensures you have enough face plates for multiple projects or team use. Buying in bulk reduces downtime caused by running out of supplies and helps maintain consistent grinding quality across jobs.
The case format is ideal for workshops or job sites where frequent replacement is needed. It also offers cost savings compared to purchasing individual plates, making it a practical choice for professionals.
Disc Pad Hub System
This face plate is part of the 3M Disc Pad Hub system, which allows quick changes without removing the hub from the power tool. This design saves time and effort, letting operators switch between grinding and finishing tasks efficiently.
The system supports various flexibilities, from lightweight to heavy-duty grinding. Using the correct face plate density with the hub ensures optimal abrasive performance and extends disc life, especially when dulling is a concern.
