  • Product Description
    • Ceramic/aluminum oxide blend offers excellent cut rate and life for increased performance over traditional abrasives when sanding on whitewood and metal substrates
    • Durable cotton backing withstands aggressive sanding and grinding
    • Grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures for processes involving heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel and nickel alloys
    • Resin bond withstands high heat and pressure
    • Tube-shaped band fits inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, imperfections, and burrs
3M Cloth Band 747D is a versatile abrasive that can be used to access inner and outer contours for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals, including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It conforms to contours to remove parting lines or seams, imperfections, and burrs.

For a fast continuous cut and long-life durable performance on aggressive applications, a blend of aluminum oxide and our 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain is resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing. Resin creates a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure, and a grinding aid on the band reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys.

The band fits onto a rubber wheel attachment (such as a cushion polishing wheel or a rubber slotted expander wheel, both sold separately) for use with a die grinder or rotary drill. The bands come in a range of widths and lengths to suit different contours and tasks, and are often used in foundry work.

Our ceramic abrasive grain is a ceramic mineral designed using a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness of the grain. Ceramic blend products feature aluminum oxide blended with ceramic grain for a harder, longer-lasting abrasive. Perfect for stock removal, ceramic abrasives are engineered to fracture frequently for a super fast cut and can handle intense heat and stress applications. Ceramic/aluminum oxide blend surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability and makes our 3M Cloth Band 747D an excellent choice for moderate stock removal and surface preparation.

    Trusted 3M Cloth Band

The 3M Cloth Spiral Band 747D is designed for reliable performance. This exact model offers a ceramic/aluminum oxide blend that improves cut rate and durability compared to traditional abrasives.

Ideal for sanding on whitewood and metal, this band combines 3M’s expertise with a durable cotton backing to handle tough sanding and grinding tasks effectively.

    Efficient Spiral Band Size

Measuring 1 inch by 1 inch, this spiral band fits well for detailed work. Its tube shape allows it to conform to inner and outer contours, making it perfect for removing parting lines and burrs.

The compact size supports precision sanding and shaping on various materials, including metals and wood, ensuring smooth finishes in tight spaces.

    Durable Cotton Backing

The 50 X-weight cotton backing on this 3M band withstands aggressive sanding and grinding. This durability ensures the band holds up under pressure and heat during demanding applications.

Its strong resin bond resists high temperatures, making it suitable for continuous use on heat-sensitive alloys like stainless steel and nickel alloys.

    Advanced Abrasive Blend

This 3M band features a ceramic/aluminum oxide blend that offers a faster cut and longer life. The ceramic grain is engineered to fracture frequently, providing a consistent abrasive surface.

The grinding aid incorporated reduces temperatures during use, protecting sensitive materials and enhancing the band’s performance on metals and fiberglass.

    Convenient Case Pack

Sold as a case of 100 bands, this pack ensures you have plenty of supply for ongoing projects. The quantity supports both professional and industrial use without frequent reordering.

The case format helps keep the bands organized and ready for use with die grinders or rotary drills, fitting various rubber wheel attachments for versatile applications.
