  • Product Description
    • Ceramic/aluminum oxide blend offers excellent cut rate and life for increased performance over traditional abrasives when sanding on whitewood and metal substrates
    • Durable cotton backing withstands aggressive sanding and grinding
    • Grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures for processes involving heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel and nickel alloys
    • Resin bond withstands high heat and pressure
    • Tube-shaped band fits inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, imperfections, and burrs
3M Cloth Band 747D is a versatile abrasive that can be used to access inner and outer contours for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals, including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It conforms to contours to remove parting lines or seams, imperfections, and burrs.

For a fast continuous cut and long-life durable performance on aggressive applications, a blend of aluminum oxide and our 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain is resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing. Resin creates a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure, and a grinding aid on the band reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys.

The band fits onto a rubber wheel attachment (such as a cushion polishing wheel or a rubber slotted expander wheel, both sold separately) for use with a die grinder or rotary drill. The bands come in a range of widths and lengths to suit different contours and tasks, and are often used in foundry work.

Our ceramic abrasive grain is a ceramic mineral designed using a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness of the grain. Ceramic blend products feature aluminum oxide blended with ceramic grain for a harder, longer-lasting abrasive. Perfect for stock removal, ceramic abrasives are engineered to fracture frequently for a super fast cut and can handle intense heat and stress applications. Ceramic/aluminum oxide blend surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability and makes our 3M Cloth Band 747D an excellent choice for moderate stock removal and surface preparation.

    Trusted 3M Brand Quality

The 3M Cloth Spiral Band 747D is a reliable choice for sanding and grinding tasks. This exact model from 3M ensures consistent performance and durability, making it a go-to abrasive for professionals.

Its ceramic/aluminum oxide blend enhances cutting efficiency, providing a longer life than traditional abrasives. This combination is ideal for working on whitewood and metal substrates with precision.

    Precise Size And Format

Measuring 3 inches by 1 inch, this spiral band fits well for detailed work on various surfaces. The tube-shaped format allows it to conform to inner and outer contours, making it versatile for removing parting lines and burrs.

Its design suits use with rubber wheel attachments on die grinders or rotary drills, enabling access to tight spots and complex shapes with ease and accuracy.

    Durable Cotton Backing

The band features a sturdy cotton backing that withstands aggressive sanding and grinding. This backing supports the abrasive grain, maintaining shape and strength during tough applications.

This durability is essential when working on metals like stainless steel and nickel alloys, ensuring the band lasts longer and performs consistently under pressure.

    Effective Heat Reduction

A built-in grinding aid helps reduce temperatures during use, protecting heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel and nickel alloys. This feature prevents damage and maintains material integrity.

The resin bond also withstands high heat and pressure, allowing the band to perform well in demanding environments without losing effectiveness or bonding strength.

    Convenient Case Pack Size

This product comes in a case of 100 bands, providing ample supply for ongoing projects or industrial use. The pack size supports continuous work without frequent reordering.

Having a large quantity on hand is especially useful in foundry work or other settings where multiple bands are needed for various contours and tasks.
