  • Product Description
    • Ceramic/aluminum oxide blend offers excellent cut rate and life for increased performance over traditional abrasives when sanding on whitewood and metal substrates
    • Durable cotton backing withstands aggressive sanding and grinding
    • Grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures for processes involving heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel and nickel alloys
    • Resin bond withstands high heat and pressure
    • Tube-shaped band fits inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, imperfections, and burrs
3M Cloth Band 747D is a versatile abrasive that can be used to access inner and outer contours for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals, including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It conforms to contours to remove parting lines or seams, imperfections, and burrs.

For a fast continuous cut and long-life durable performance on aggressive applications, a blend of aluminum oxide and our 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain is resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing. Resin creates a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure, and a grinding aid on the band reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys.

The band fits onto a rubber wheel attachment (such as a cushion polishing wheel or a rubber slotted expander wheel, both sold separately) for use with a die grinder or rotary drill. The bands come in a range of widths and lengths to suit different contours and tasks, and are often used in foundry work.

Our ceramic abrasive grain is a ceramic mineral designed using a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness of the grain. Ceramic blend products feature aluminum oxide blended with ceramic grain for a harder, longer-lasting abrasive. Perfect for stock removal, ceramic abrasives are engineered to fracture frequently for a super fast cut and can handle intense heat and stress applications. Ceramic/aluminum oxide blend surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability and makes our 3M Cloth Band 747D an excellent choice for moderate stock removal and surface preparation.

    Trusted 3M Brand Quality

The 3M Cloth Spiral Band 747D offers reliable performance backed by the trusted 3M brand. This exact model is designed for professionals who need consistent results with abrasive tools.

Its P120 X-weight grade ensures a balanced cut rate and durability, making it suitable for various sanding and grinding tasks on metals and wood.

    Precise 1 Inch Size

Measuring 1 inch by 1 inch, this cloth spiral band fits perfectly for detailed work. The compact size allows easy access to tight spaces and contours during sanding or shaping.

This dimension is ideal for use with rubber wheel attachments, enhancing control and accuracy when removing imperfections or burrs on different surfaces.

    Durable Cotton Backing

The band features a durable cotton backing that withstands aggressive sanding and grinding. This backing supports the abrasive grain for long-lasting use in tough applications.

Its resilience makes it suitable for continuous cutting on metals like stainless steel and nickel alloys, ensuring the band holds up under pressure and heat.

    Effective Ceramic Blend Abrasive

This product uses a ceramic/aluminum oxide blend that delivers excellent cut rate and life. The blend outperforms traditional abrasives, especially on whitewood and metal substrates.

The ceramic grain is engineered to fracture frequently, providing a fast cut and handling intense heat, which is perfect for moderate stock removal and surface preparation.
