  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    Trusted 3M Cloth Belt

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F offers reliable performance with its alumina zirconia mineral, providing more cutting power than aluminum oxide. This model is designed to handle tough grinding tasks efficiently.

Ideal for heavy stock removal, the 577F belt features a Film-lok single-flex backing that stands up to high-pressure applications. Its durable construction ensures long-lasting use in demanding environments.

    Precise 80 YF-weight Grade

This belt comes in an 80 YF-weight grade, balancing aggressive cutting with smooth finishing. The grade is perfect for dimensioning parts, deburring, and blending metal surfaces.

With the grinding aid incorporated, it runs cooler on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel, protecting your workpieces while maintaining cutting efficiency.

    Optimal 6 Inch Width

The belt measures 6 inches by 48 inches, fitting a variety of industrial belt sanders. This size is versatile for wide belt sanders and feed-through flat finishers, smoothing rough edges and adding grain patterns.

Medium-width belts like this are also great for weld removal and finishing tasks, offering access to different metalworking applications with ease and precision.

    Film-lok Single-flex Technology

Featuring Film-lok single-flex backing, this belt resists water and stands up to edge work and high-pressure grinding. The backing ensures durability during heavy production use.

The resin bond firmly holds the abrasive to the backing, maintaining performance under heat and pressure. This technology helps the belt fracture frequently, producing sharp cutting points.

    Convenient Case Pack

Sold as a case of 20 belts, this pack size supports continuous work without frequent reordering. It’s ideal for industrial settings requiring consistent supply and efficiency.

Having multiple belts on hand reduces downtime and keeps your operations running smoothly, especially when working on deburring, finishing, grinding, and surface preparation.
