  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    Trusted 3M Brand Quality

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F is a reliable choice for metalworking tasks. This exact model features alumina zirconia mineral grain that cuts faster than traditional aluminum oxide belts, ensuring efficient stock removal.

Its single-flex design offers versatility for various sanding tools. The belt’s Film-lok technology enhances abrasive retention, making it durable under high pressure and heat conditions.

    Durable Heavyweight Backing

This belt uses an 80 YF-weight heavyweight cloth backing, providing strength and durability during high-production operations. The backing stands up well to edge work and tough grinding tasks.

Its robust construction helps maintain belt integrity over time, reducing downtime and replacement frequency. The heavyweight cloth backing supports consistent performance on demanding jobs.

    Precise 3 Inch Width

The belt measures 3 inches wide by 132 inches long, fitting a variety of belt sanding machines. This size is ideal for medium-width applications like weld removal and finishing tasks.

Its length allows for extended use before replacement, improving productivity. The dimensions suit many industrial belt sanders, making it a flexible option for different metalworking needs.

    Film-lok Technology Benefits

Film-lok technology firmly bonds the abrasive grain to the backing, enhancing durability and heat resistance. This prevents premature wear and helps the belt run cooler on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel.

By reducing running temperatures, the belt protects delicate alloys during deburring and finishing. This technology supports consistent cutting power and longer belt life under tough conditions.

    Case Of Twenty-five

This product comes as a case of 25 belts, providing ample supply for ongoing projects. Buying in bulk helps reduce costs and ensures you have enough belts for continuous operation.

The pack size suits industrial environments where frequent belt changes are needed. Having 25 belts on hand minimizes downtime and keeps workflows efficient.
