  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    3M Cloth Belt Model

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F is designed for heavy-duty use with its alumina zirconia abrasive grain. This model offers superior cutting power compared to traditional aluminum oxide belts, making it a reliable choice for tough grinding tasks.

Its single-flex format ensures flexibility during operation, while the Film-lok technology enhances the belt's durability. This combination supports consistent performance in demanding industrial environments.

    Grade And Weight Benefits

This belt features an 80 YF-weight, providing a heavyweight cloth backing that stands up to high-production operations. The weight contributes to the belt's durability and resistance to wear under pressure.

The alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid helps the belt run cooler, which is essential when working with heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel. This grade ensures efficient cutting without damaging delicate materials.

    Dimensions And Size

The belt measures 2 inches by 132 inches, fitting a variety of belt sanding tools. This size is versatile enough for different metalworking applications, from deburring to finishing.

Available in a case of 50 belts, this pack size supports continuous use in industrial settings, reducing downtime for replacements. The dimensions and quantity make it practical for both small and large-scale operations.

    Film-lok Format Features

The Film-lok system securely bonds the abrasive to the backing with resin, enhancing durability under high heat and pressure. This format helps maintain belt integrity during heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding.

Its water-resistant polyester backing resists edge wear and supports long-lasting performance. This makes the belt suitable for demanding applications where reliability is critical.

    Pack Count And Usage

Sold as a case of 50 belts, this pack count ensures you have enough supply for extended projects or multiple machines. It’s ideal for operations requiring frequent belt changes without interruption.

These belts are perfect for deburring, finishing, grinding, and surface preparation tasks. Their size and pack quantity make them a practical choice for industrial metalworking environments.
