  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    3M Cloth Belt Model

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F is designed for heavy-duty grinding with alumina zirconia mineral that cuts faster than aluminum oxide. This model offers a full-flex design with Fabri-lok technology, ensuring durability and flexibility during use.

Its heavyweight cloth backing supports high-production operations, making it reliable for tough applications. The belt's construction helps maintain performance even under pressure and edge work.

    Grade And Weight Benefits

This belt features an 80 YF-weight grade, providing a balance between aggressive cutting and smooth finishing. The alumina zirconia abrasive grain fractures often to keep the cutting points sharp and efficient.

With grinding aid included, it runs cooler on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel, protecting the material while maintaining a fast cut rate.

    Dimensions And Size

The belt measures 1/2 inch by 18 inches, fitting a variety of belt sanding tools. These dimensions make it suitable for detailed work and access to tight corners, especially when used on file tools or narrow belt sanders.

Different widths and lengths are available in the 3M range, but this specific size is ideal for precision tasks such as deburring and finishing smaller metal parts.

    Fabri-lok Full-flex Format

Fabri-lok technology ensures the belt is easy to install and remove, saving time during tool changes. The full-flex design allows the belt to bend and flex without cracking, extending its lifespan.

This format is perfect for applications requiring frequent belt changes or working on complex shapes, enhancing productivity and reducing downtime.

    Case Pack Quantity

This product comes in a case of 200 belts, providing ample supply for continuous industrial use. Bulk packaging helps reduce ordering frequency and ensures you have enough belts on hand for large projects.

Having a large pack count supports high-production environments where belts are used regularly for deburring, grinding, finishing, and surface preparation tasks.
