  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    3M Cloth Belt Model

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F is designed for heavy-duty grinding with alumina zirconia mineral that cuts faster than aluminum oxide. This model features a Film-lok abrasive system for consistent performance.

Ideal for demanding metalworking tasks, the 577F model offers durability and cutting power, making it a reliable choice for industrial applications requiring efficient stock removal.

    Grade And Weight Benefits

This belt uses a 60 YF-weight cloth backing, providing a strong, heavyweight base that withstands high-production operations. The grade ensures long-lasting durability during tough grinding jobs.

The heavyweight backing supports the abrasive grain firmly, allowing the belt to maintain performance under pressure and heat, especially on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel.

    Dimensions And Size

Measuring 2 inches by 48 inches, this belt fits a variety of belt sanding tools. Its size is suitable for both narrow and wide applications, offering versatility across different metalworking tasks.

The 2 in x 48 in dimensions make it compatible with many industrial belt sanders, allowing users to select the right size for deburring, blending, or finishing metal parts efficiently.

    Film-lok Single-flex Format

The Film-lok single-flex design enhances belt flexibility and strength, enabling smooth operation on various surfaces. This format helps maintain consistent contact during grinding.

Single-flex belts are easier to handle and adapt well to different tool setups, improving control and finish quality on castings, forgings, and other metal substrates.

    Pack Count And Usage

This product comes in a case of 50 belts, providing ample supply for continuous industrial use. The pack size supports large-scale operations without frequent reordering.

With 25 belts per pack and two packs per case, users can stock up on the 3M Cloth Belt 577F for extended projects involving deburring, finishing, grinding, and surface preparation.
