  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    3M Cloth Belt Model

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F is designed for heavy-duty grinding and finishing tasks. This model features alumina zirconia mineral with a grinding aid, offering more cutting power than traditional aluminum oxide belts.

Its full-flex Fabri-lok format ensures flexibility and durability during use. The belt is ideal for high-production operations where consistent performance is required.

    Grade And Weight Benefits

This belt comes in a 60 YF-weight grade, providing a balance between aggressive cutting and long life. The alumina zirconia abrasive fractures frequently, creating sharp points that maintain fast cutting rates.

Its grinding aid reduces running temperatures, making it suitable for heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel. This grade is perfect for dimensioning, deburring, and finishing metal parts.

    Dimensions And Size

The belt measures 1 inch by 18 inches, fitting a variety of belt sanding tools. This size is versatile for different metalworking applications, from weld removal to edge finishing.

Available in a range of sizes and grades, the 3M Cloth Belt 577F can suit specific needs. Narrow belts access tight corners, while wider belts smooth rough edges on metal sheets.

    Format Technologies Included

The Fabri-lok full-flex format enhances the belt’s flexibility and durability. This format supports heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding without compromising the backing.

The heavyweight cloth backing is water-resistant polyester, designed to withstand high-pressure applications and edge work. This backing ensures the belt lasts longer in demanding environments.

    Pack Count And Usage

This product comes in a case of 200 belts, packaged as 50 per pack. This bulk packaging is ideal for industrial users requiring consistent supply for ongoing projects.

Common applications include deburring, finishing, grinding, and surface preparation. The belt’s toughness and versatility make it suitable for various substrates and metal alloys.
