  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    3M Cloth Belt Model

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F is designed for heavy-duty grinding tasks. This model features alumina zirconia mineral with a grinding aid that cuts faster than traditional aluminum oxide belts.

Its single-flex construction ensures flexibility during use, making it suitable for various metalworking applications. The belt is built to handle high-pressure operations reliably.

    Grade And Weight Benefits

This belt comes in the 36 YF-weight grade, offering a balance of durability and cutting power. The heavyweight cloth backing supports long-lasting performance in demanding environments.

Alumina zirconia mineral fractures frequently to maintain sharp cutting points, which helps with heavy stock removal and efficient grinding on many substrates.

    Dimensions And Size

The belt measures 2 inches by 72 inches, fitting a wide range of belt sanding tools. This size is ideal for tasks like deburring, blending, and finishing metal parts.

Different widths and lengths are available to suit specific needs, but this particular size works well on file tools and backstands for precise metal finishing.

    Film-lok Format Technology

The Film-lok technology enhances the belt’s durability and resistance to water and heat. This backing system helps the abrasive stay firmly bonded during high heat and pressure.

It runs cool on heat-sensitive metals such as aluminum and stainless steel, reducing the risk of damage while maintaining cutting efficiency.

    Pack Count And Usage

This product is sold as a case of 50 belts, making it suitable for high-production operations. The pack size ensures you have enough belts for continuous work without frequent reordering.

These belts are versatile for applications including deburring, finishing, grinding, and surface preparation across various metal types and alloys.
