  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    3M Cloth Belt Model

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F is designed for heavy-duty sanding tasks. This model features alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid, which cuts faster than traditional aluminum oxide belts.

Its single-flex construction and Fabri-lok system ensure reliable performance. The belt is ideal for high-production operations requiring durability and consistent cutting power.

    Grade And Weight Details

This belt comes in the 36 YF-weight grade, offering a balance between aggressive stock removal and surface finish. The heavyweight cloth backing supports tough applications without compromising flexibility.

Such a grade is perfect for deburring, blending, and finishing metal parts, especially when working with heat-sensitive alloys like aluminum and stainless steel.

    Dimensions And Size

The belt measures 1/2 inch by 18 inches, fitting a variety of belt sanding tools. Narrow belts like this are great for accessing tight corners and detailed finishing work.

Its size makes it suitable for use on file tools or backstands, allowing precise control during grinding and surface preparation tasks.

    Fabri-lok Format Benefits

The Fabri-lok format simplifies belt changes and enhances compatibility with many industrial belt sanders. This system supports efficient workflow in busy metalworking environments.

Combined with the single-flex design, the Fabri-lok belts provide durability and ease of use, reducing downtime and improving productivity on the job.

    Pack Count And Usage

This product is sold as a case of 200 belts, packaged in 50 packs. Such bulk packaging suits high-volume operations needing consistent supply and quick replacement.

Having a large pack count ensures you can maintain continuous work without frequent reordering, ideal for industrial settings focused on deburring, finishing, and grinding.
