  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    3M Cloth Belt Model

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F is designed with alumina zirconia mineral for more cutting power than traditional aluminum oxide. This model features a Film-lok system that enhances durability and performance during heavy use.

Its Single-flex construction allows for smooth operation on various surfaces, making it a reliable choice for demanding metalworking tasks. The belt’s design supports high-pressure applications and edge work efficiently.

    Grade And Weight Benefits

This belt comes in the 180 YF-weight grade, which balances toughness and flexibility for effective stock removal. The heavyweight cloth backing ensures the belt holds up well in high-production environments.

With a grinding aid incorporated, the belt runs cool, protecting heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel from damage during use. This helps maintain metal integrity while delivering fast cuts.

    Exact Dimensions Provided

The belt measures 37 inches by 75 inches, fitting a wide range of industrial belt sanders. These dimensions make it suitable for smoothing rough-cut edges and finishing metal sheets with precision.

Its size supports various sanding tools, from wide belt sanders to file tools, allowing access to tight corners and flat surfaces alike. This versatility helps meet different metalworking needs efficiently.

    Film-lok System Advantages

The Film-lok technology enhances the belt’s resistance to wear and tear, extending its lifespan under tough conditions. This system also helps maintain consistent abrasive performance throughout the belt’s use.

By firmly bonding the abrasive to the backing with resin, the belt withstands high heat and pressure, ensuring durability during heavy stock removal and grinding tasks on various substrates.

    Pack Count And Usage

This product comes as a case of 5 belts, providing enough supply for continuous work without frequent reordering. The pack size supports industrial operations requiring multiple belts for different applications.

Recommended for deburring, finishing, grinding, and surface preparation, these belts are ideal for aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and exotic metal alloys. Their toughness and versatility make them a practical choice.
