  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    Trusted 3M Brand Model

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F offers reliable performance with its alumina zirconia mineral that cuts faster than traditional aluminum oxide. This model is designed for heavy-duty use, making it a solid choice for demanding metalworking tasks.

Its single-flex format ensures flexibility during use, while the Film-lok technology helps keep the abrasive firmly bonded. This combination supports consistent cutting power and durability in tough conditions.

    Grade And Weight Benefits

The belt features a 120 YF-weight grade, providing a balance between aggressive cutting and smooth finishing. This grade is ideal for applications requiring both stock removal and surface refinement.

Its heavyweight cloth backing enhances durability, allowing the belt to withstand high-production operations without premature wear. This backing supports the abrasive’s performance under pressure.

    Precise Dimensions Included

Measuring 6 inches by 48 inches, this belt fits a variety of industrial belt sanders. These dimensions make it suitable for wide belt sanders and feed-through flat finishers, perfect for smoothing metal sheets or adding grain patterns.

The size also works well on backstands for weld removal or finishing, and narrow belts can access tight corners. This versatility ensures the belt meets many metalworking needs.

    Film-lok Format Technology

The Film-lok system keeps the abrasive grain securely attached to the backing, even under high heat and pressure. This technology helps maintain cutting efficiency and belt longevity during heavy stock removal.

It also contributes to the belt running cool on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel, reducing the risk of damage during grinding and finishing tasks.

    Case Pack Quantity

This product comes as a case of 20 belts, providing ample supply for continuous use in busy workshops. Buying in bulk ensures you have replacements ready when needed, minimizing downtime.

The pack size supports high-production environments where frequent belt changes are necessary, making it a cost-effective option for professional metalworkers.
