  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    Trusted 3M Cloth Belt

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F offers reliable performance with its alumina zirconia mineral that cuts faster than traditional aluminum oxide. This model is designed for heavy-duty use, making it a solid choice for demanding metalworking tasks.

Its single-flex construction ensures flexibility while maintaining strength. The belt’s film-lok technology helps keep the abrasive firmly bonded, enhancing durability during high-pressure applications.

    Precise 120 YF-Weight Grade

This belt features a 120 YF-weight grade, ideal for medium to heavy stock removal. The grade balances cutting speed and finish quality, making it suitable for deburring, grinding, and finishing metal parts.

Using this grade helps protect heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel by running cooler, thanks to the grinding aid incorporated in the abrasive mineral.

    Optimal 3 Inch Width

The belt measures 3 inches wide, fitting a variety of belt sanding tools. This width is versatile enough for weld removal, surface preparation, and finishing tasks on different metal substrates.

Its length of 132 inches allows for extended use before replacement, supporting continuous operation in industrial settings without frequent belt changes.

    Durable Film-lok Backing

The Film-lok backing on this belt enhances its resistance to wear and tear. This backing type is water-resistant and stands up well to edge work and high-pressure grinding.

Combined with the heavyweight cloth backing, it ensures the belt maintains its shape and strength during heavy production, extending belt life and reducing downtime.

    Convenient 25 Pack Case

Sold as a case of 50 belts, each pack contains 25 belts, providing ample supply for industrial use. This packaging supports bulk purchasing, reducing the need for frequent reordering.

Having multiple belts on hand ensures consistent workflow, especially in high-production environments where belt replacement is frequent.
