  • Product Description
    • Alumina zirconia mineral with grinding aid provides more cutting power than aluminum oxide
    • Available in a range of sizes and grades to fit your specific needs
    • Heavyweight cloth backing provides durability in high-production operations
    • Runs cool for reliable use on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel
    • Tough and versatile alumina zirconia mineral cuts fast and performs well on many substrates
When traditional aluminum oxide belts aren’t cutting it, try 3M Cloth Belt 577F with alumina zirconia abrasive grain. It offers increased cutting efficiency compared to aluminum oxide, and has a heavy, water-resistant polyester backing that stands up to high-pressure applications and edge work.

    Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
We recommend 3M Cloth Belt 577F for use on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings. To protect heat sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys, we incorporated a grinding aid on the belt reduces running temperatures. Additionally, the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

    Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. At 3M we offer a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.

    3M Cloth Belt Model

The 3M Cloth Belt 577F is designed for heavy-duty grinding with alumina zirconia mineral that cuts faster than aluminum oxide. This model offers a reliable solution for tough metalworking tasks requiring durability and efficiency.

Its single-flex format allows easy handling and adaptability on various belt sanding tools. The belt is built to withstand high-pressure applications, making it ideal for demanding industrial use.

    Grade And Weight Benefits

The 120 YF-weight grade provides a balance of aggressive cutting and long life. This heavyweight cloth backing supports high-production operations by resisting wear and tear during extended use.

With a grinding aid incorporated, the belt runs cooler on heat-sensitive metals like aluminum and stainless steel, protecting parts from heat damage while maintaining cutting speed.

    Dimensions And Size

Measuring 2 inches by 132 inches, this belt fits a wide range of belt sanders and tools. Its size is suitable for both narrow and wide applications, from detailed corner work to smoothing large metal sheets.

The length and width allow for versatility in metalworking tasks such as deburring, blending, and finishing, ensuring compatibility with many industrial sanding machines.

    Film-lok Format Technology

The Film-lok system enhances the belt's durability by firmly bonding the abrasive to the backing with resin. This ensures the abrasive stays intact under high heat and pressure conditions.

This technology supports consistent performance during heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding, making the belt suitable for tough substrates and demanding applications.

    Pack Count And Usage

Sold as a case of 50 belts, this pack size supports large-scale operations and frequent belt replacement needs. The quantity ensures you have enough belts for continuous production without downtime.

These belts are perfect for applications like deburring, finishing, grinding, and surface preparation, providing a reliable supply for various metalworking projects.
