  • Product Description
    • Abrasive grades are capable of producing high-luster finishes
    • Conformability adapts to interior contours, providing consistent abrasive action
    • Load resistance helps maintain peak cut-rate throughout the life of the product
    • Specialized abrasive tool for cleaning and polishing inside diameters 2-ply staggered design gets into hard-to-reach areas
Scotch-Brite Cross Buff polishes, cleans, satin finishes, denibs and defuzzes the interior diameters of metal components, such as lifter bores, valve bodies, valve spools, and tubing. Conformability of the nylon web makes this abrasive useful for removing surface oxidation, rust and corrosion on dies and molds prior to coating and polishing.

The 2-ply staggered design gives you consistent results, even in hard-to-reach locations, unique profiles, and interior contours. Our Scotch-Brite Cross Buffs are commonly used in aerospace, automotive and other industrial markets.

The purple cleaning and polishing tool uses an aluminum oxide abrasive capable of producing a high luster finish. Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate and long life. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing use. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.

Scotch-Brite is a unique surface conditioning product with abrasives incorporated into non-woven fibers. Combining abrasives into the fibers creates an abrasive system that gives you consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material is load resistant and keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers.

    Scotch-Brite Cross Buff

The Scotch-Brite Cross Buff is a specialized abrasive tool designed for cleaning and polishing inside diameters. This model, 2 in x 1/2 in x 2 PLY x 8-32 High Strength A VFN, offers a unique 2-ply staggered design that adapts well to interior contours, ensuring consistent abrasive action.

Commonly used in aerospace and automotive industries, it polishes, cleans, satin finishes, denibs, and defuzzes metal components like lifter bores and valve bodies. Its conformability makes it ideal for hard-to-reach areas.

    High Strength Abrasive Grades

This product uses aluminum oxide abrasive, known for producing high-luster finishes and maintaining a high cut-rate. The high strength grade ensures durability and long life, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications.

Aluminum oxide self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges during use, unlike traditional abrasives that wear down quickly. This makes it effective on ferrous alloys and various metalworking tasks.

    Precise Dimensions And Format

The Cross Buff measures 2 inches by 1/2 inch and features a 2-ply construction with an 8-32 thread size. This precise sizing allows it to fit perfectly in tools designed for these dimensions, ensuring optimal performance.

Its format supports cleaning and polishing inside diameters, making it especially useful for interior contours and unique profiles where precision is critical.

    Consistent Abrasive Performance

The open-web nylon fiber construction incorporates abrasives that resist loading and clogging. This load resistance helps maintain peak cut-rate throughout the product’s life, providing consistent results every time.

By combining abrasives into non-woven fibers, the Scotch-Brite Cross Buff delivers reliable surface conditioning without rapid wear, making it a dependable choice for repeated industrial use.

    Convenient Pack Size Options

This product comes in packs of 25 per carton and 100 per case, allowing for easy inventory management and bulk purchasing. The pack size supports continuous use in busy industrial environments.

Having multiple units on hand ensures you can maintain workflow without interruption, especially in applications requiring frequent abrasive tool replacement.
